Constant trickle fans -Fan isolators or fused spur?

Not the best place really! - The worst place is the height of the normal functional switch, I`ve seen plenty of those.

    Neutral-Earth Voltage 120V

Well Really! They have been Outlawed !!! Have you not seen that Picture of a Policeman with an Amnesty Bin for Neon Screwdrivers? S it must be true ;) . They were very popular in the 60s even with Electricians. Drawbacks - Could not always be seen in strongish sunlight , could give you a...

Constant trickle fans -Fan isolators or fused spur?

One reason I put the fan isolator up near the ceiling, if someone really needs to get it switched they can, with a stick, if need be but not low enough to encourage a habit of switching on and off and possibly forgetting.

    non-maintained emergency light

Yes indeed, they sometimes have a little DIL type switch on the circuit board so you can flick the battery on or off. The instruction manual does not seem to give much info.

    Boiler Conundrum

Yes I think that either 16A (or 15A) MCB but possibly 20A would be the most common or 15A if it was a rewireable fuse (but you could get 20A in rewireable fuses back in the day - not unknown to put more than one fusewire in rewireable fuses by some folk either) and I can not say I have never...

Yes indeed - please do not ask me how "Justice" can be found by getting the cleverest person you can get on your side according to the size of your wallet! LOL.

Constant trickle fans -Fan isolators or fused spur?

Well said that man (y) PS - as to the OP , a fan isolator is just for that - isolating for maintenance etc and not as a functional switch (if needed).

How far from the ring can an FCU be

Yes I think it might well be the case - to a non-legal person such as myself I would assume that for any trade/profession entering a home is counted as a "workplace" for the duration of that visit at least so maybe, someone more knowlegeable may inform us about the relevan wording and...

    Ceiling Rose Headache

If your "Adjacent" rose operates simultaneously with this one it could be that you have one L & one N being all thats needed for it to work and the Perm L is made in the connector block rather than the Loop terminal for some reason and the other Blue is for something else (L or N) or not...

    Ceiling Rose Headache

Is it possible that you have 2N and 2Perm L (Lin and Lout) and the Sw L from the switch did not require a L feed to it becaise it got it from another Perm L in the same switchbox? (say a 2 g or 3g switch etc).. the choc block would not be need and the two Perm L could be in the ceiling rose...

How far from the ring can an FCU be

The use of the word "Mandatory" could often be taken, by many people, to mean a legal requirement. The wiring Regs are not a statutory document and therefore do not have the force of law * RCDs are pretty much mandatory to comply with the wiring regs. * = a small portion relating to the laws of...

Is this article a Red Haddock ???

It`s not long since that you could consider testing earth loops with 25A, pretty good at testing metal conduit joints and sometimes effectively welding poor joints as a by product of the test - find and fix at the press of a button??? Often produces sparks on the poor joint as a dead giveway too

Is this article a Red Haddock ???

Agreed. No problem, even though onr Tutor insisted it should be taken from on or near the midpoint of a ring and the end of any radial as they might be the most eronous. I decided they must always be done with no circuit connected but better still, if the situation permits, to repeat the test...

Is this article a Red Haddock ???

Thanks for that Eric. Firstly my intention of checking a reading obtained from any meter (not only the RCD trip time tests) is in the hope any differences large enough to cause concern with each test - including both dead testing and live testing. With an RCD test then both with and without the...

Eric, would you be kind enough to explain in a little more details exactly what you mean by those points? I want to be certain that I do not mislead myself as to your menings, cheers mate.
