External garage electricity wrongly connected to neighbours supply

Well that is certainly not impossible with some firms. I have known quite a few firms (Including some large well known firms too) doing things that are, in my humble opinion, at least slightly or sometimetimes very dishonest, aparently they seem to think that they have the upper hand in size and...

External garage electricity wrongly connected to neighbours supply

Yes indeed but there are some numpties doing all sorts of works sometimes. Ive seen quite a few horrors on new builds. A builder/main contractor employees other to do works for the cheapest prices eventually they walk and new contractors come in and the cycle goes on. Mistakes and sheer...

External garage electricity wrongly connected to neighbours supply

Are we sure that an owner or anybody "deliberately" swapped around the supplies or could it pure be a mistake (carlessness) followed bu incompetant inspections both on completion and maybe other subsequend periods, that could be a case for compensations then was a danger/potential danger caused...

External garage electricity wrongly connected to neighbours supply

Although Part P came into force on Jan 1st 2005 a noncession made by LABC that contracts in force (i.e. a written estimate dated up to 3 months prior that date would readily be accepted by as evidence LABC as done before Part P became effective (I think there was an expectation that the works...

External garage electricity wrongly connected to neighbours supply

One possible consideration but maybe not. Remember The Boswells in the TV series "Bread" they owned their Grandads House and he owned theirs so both could claim More benefits supposedly? Bonkers comedy but good fun though . :giggle:

I am not sure that any liabilities will always be limited by any gaurantee/warranty anyhow.

Electric heater plug just exploded - what would have caused that?

What gets me is where people hide a key outside and think they have the most secret place in the world and are amazed when you find it before they tell you and you have to explain "Burglars know all these common places". Burglar Alarm keys were a classic example . Numbers for keypads are...

    Shaver Socket to LED Mirror?

Thanks for thecomments after mine. Yes I did realise, however I did not want to ramble on too much with all the caveats and why's and wherefores etc (you all know I sometimes ramble on a bit - or a lot) so, in my little way, I was trying to simplify it a bit if possible. Having a relative who...

    Shaver Socket to LED Mirror?

It is probably easier all round to leave the existing shave socket and get a cabinate with a shaver socket as part of it (if one is avaible) that way you have only one zone (Shaver Socket to cabinate) to worry about.

Electric heater plug just exploded - what would have caused that?

yes indeed as Harry just said, once a decent socket (or plug) is overloaded once then its subsequent ordinay use can damage it further once it already has started deteriates a bit! Once you have it, even used properly, the damage has already been done and that can make it more suseptable with...

Electric heater plug just exploded - what would have caused that?

No it sould not have been and with a proper decent socket and plug it should be OK but ,if during it`s history, it has had something nasty including for instance a really nasty maunfactured socket (or plug) then that could be a possible cause of the problem.

    Help Replacing Light Fitting? UK

Sometimes, depending upon the fitting, it is possible just to remove the existing ceiling rose cover, perhaps slacken/temporarily remove the fixing screws and install the base of your new lamp. The connections for the old pendant flex being removed and used for connecting wires for N & L of...

    Extension cables and BS1363

Possibly yes. Dont forget, we very rarely seem to question the bog standard BC Lampholder (and ES etc) having two exposed pins with a relatively short shroud and it could be Live if no lamp onboard, we do not seem to worry toomuch about those! Perhaps we should, I think (only think) that it...

Replacing PIR but wires are strange colours!

Replacing PIR but wires are strange colours!

Did we ever have such problems with the old (proper) colours of Red for L and Blck for N with a Green/Yellow (or just Green) for E. Red to Brown and Blue to Bits! as they say. Mind you, fair point, if we had a length of RYB 3 core & E what did folk start to use Yellow for once E changed from...

Setting a level line for a kitchen fit

Why 17 years or so too late? The info I gave could be useful at anytime, irrespective of when this tread was started, that is not relevant is it? Physics has not changed so much has it?

Setting a level line for a kitchen fit

One thing about levelling and what to use to strike a level. You can get some remarkable machines that are pretty accurate but some are very expensive and usually have another drawaback that line of sight is required. A simple. cheap, easy to use without line of sight level is ..... A Water...
