    COOKER extractor for narrow chimney

I have an existing 6 inch aluminium flue liner running up inside an old chimney. It runs up appprox 10 feet to the chimney cowl. (The flue was previously used to vent a gas fired Aga). The chinmey narrows very quickly from the hearth to approx 9 inches wide so it makes installing a...

    Choosing a shower

I've just had a separate pump installed as opposed to a power shower as we have a number of showers to run and the mains pressure generally isnt great. I would say that whilst the water now comes out of the taps in fireman hose fashion the noise is a nuisance. The further you can site it away...

    Fully pumped system; Noise issues

Thanks Richard C. I'm kind of getting used to the whizz now (!) but I'm going to have a bash at reducing the noise with some insulating materials. Failing that I'll stick the guests in the room nearest the airing cupboard! :D

    Fully pumped system; Noise issues

Is it possible to put the pump on a timer so that between say midnight and 6.am its switched off? ie do they inhibit the water flow when they are not working ? Obviously from time to time someone might use the loo and (or!) wash their hands in the middle of the night. etc

    Fully pumped system; Noise issues

What are the views on the noise issues relating to pumped hot/cold water systems? I'm concerned that the location of the pump on my new system (in airing cupboard next to a bedroom) will cause problems during nightime use. Should the pump be audible across a hall way with the both the...

Nail gun to fix lath ?

I'm in the process of repairing my tudor built house. To cut a long story short we are now in the position to replace an awful lot of lath and plaster walling. I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a nail gun that would fire the correct nails for this job? Many thanks!

    Mains water pressure

[/url] Nice one thanks. I was intially thinking of using a pumped system but I quite liked the idea of maybe using a single small pump running on off peak electricity to fill an elevated tank. I could then use the stored water at my leisure without using any further power, assuming I could...

    Mains water pressure

Lovely thanks KevP (By the way thanks for all your help on my last visit. Your advice was invaluable and my waste swimming pool water venting system is working a treat). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++= Oh dear that means to reach a lowly 15 psi I need to elevate the...

    Mains water pressure

Does anyone know roughly what the average mains water pressure is in pounds per sq inch? I'm trying to work out how high I need to site a water tank to supply collected rainwater around my garden at a reasonable pressure. ie close to mains as I can get. My plan is to link numerous water...
