    Making own skirtings and architrave

Dear Mrs twonames, I told you already that we (I) would need a router table. Did you not believe me? I also told you that it would be a lot of faffing about. Maxsys is my friend!

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

This Greyhound is a retired racer and is thicker than the thickest of a dozen short planks. After almost three years with us, she has still not even learned what the words "Walk" and "Dinner" mean. It's the dog that set this project going in the first place when she found a tube of scarlet...

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

The advice about not putting rugs down was not communicated to Mrs twonames in time. She has put a rug down to give the dog somewhere she can be without sliding about. The dog is a rescue and has been quite traumatised by being excluded for the weekend and I'm loathe to add to her trauma by...

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

OK, I thought you might say that about hands and knees. I'll give it a go but I think we may live with it for now. If I decide to strip it all off and start again, I know who I shall turn to. Thanks for all the help.

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

Tell me about it! Sanding and filling took longer than anticipated and this was the only way to get the lounge and dining rooms back into use. The flooor had to be sealed before the dog could be allowed back in. So the 2nd coat should go on sooner rather than later? i.e. before the 1st coat is...

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

Thanks all for the advice. The job is done. The machine hire place didn't supply 100 grit. 24, 40, 60 and 120 for the belt and edger. Trio had 40, 80 and 120 So I went up to 120 on the belt and edger and then back to 80 then 120 on the trio. The floor at this point was silky smooth...

Urgent - need lecol7500 or equivalent in a hurry

I'm in trouble. This weekend, I've been sanding the reclaimed parquet floor which I've laid. It's all looking pretty good but I am now at the stage of gap filling. I had intended to use Lecol 7500 (or equivalent) to fill the gaps. As I understand it, you mix it to a sloppy paste and...

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

ok, last question.... probably. should I stop the belt sanding at 100? or do I go to 120 with the belt and then do 80 then 100 with the Trio. I wish I could afford to pay an expert to come and do it!

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

This may sound silly, but what would I look for? Should I just go no higher than 100 with all sandings? That's true. would you suggest sealing up doorways to protect the rest of the house or will shut doors be enough?

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

Thanks WYL I plan on going no higher than 120 - will that be ok with the Trio? The hire company claims the machines are "virtually dust free" Will I need a mask/goggles? What about ear defenders?

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

That makes more sense than diagonal sanding where I would always be going across the grain of 50% of the blocks. So I should take the belt sanding to 120 grit and then go back to 80 with the trio and work back up to 120 again? I gather I should go no higher than 120 because I'm finishing...

    Conflicting advice on parquet sanding

I have laid a herrinbone floor of about 50 sq yd and I am about to start sanding. The machines arrive friday. The blocks are 80 year old reclaimed maple and are in a bit of a mess. I will be using a 10" continuous belt, edger and corner sander and then a trio for the final go. I will finish...
