Is there such a thing as a bag to store a ladder in ? !!

Our huge extending ladder has been lying alongside our stairs for ages and we'd like to make more room by keeping it outside. Is there such a thing as a ladder bag? Something waterproof and long, that it would be zipped into. so we could put it in the garden?

Gravel a concrete patio - help

Hi Phil We had hideous concrete in our garden too and I put gravel down instead and it looks much nicer. It's much better though if you can hack up the gravel with a pick-axe first, which is what I did. It's really worth doing as it would be rather odd having lose gravel on top of concrete...

What would protect wooden windows against the sea?

Hi John thanks for that suggestion. Actually, I was hoping there would be something like Linseed that would sink into the wood rather than a paint or a varnish which forms a coat on top. I use linseed on some wooden panelling inside the cottage but hadn't thought of putting it outside.

Polycarbonate sheeting - which one to buy?

HI Breezer thanks, I didn't know about that editing technique. I must try it out. Re the polycarb sheets, I just wondered whether there was a great difference in quality among the various makes, but I can't quite work out what the makes are !!! I mean, are there lots of factories churning...

What would protect wooden windows against the sea?

Hi there thanks for that suggestion. I hadn't thought of yacht varnish or paint but now I think of it, it's obvious that it might keep water at bay! The cottage is in Seaford, by the way.

What would protect wooden windows against the sea?

My cottage is about 100 yards from the beach on a very windy part of Sussex where the air is full of salt. The cottage gets the full blast of any storm and only certain plants survive in the patio in front. No trees grow. At the moment it has hideous upvc windows, which spoil its looks. I'd...

Polycarbonate sheeting - which one to buy?

Hi Joe one more question: the sheet we saw in the 16mm size was £49. What we want to know is, is the Wickes stuff the same as the polycarbonate sold over the Internet, which seems much cheaper? Are there just one or two manufacturers churning it out? It's worth paying the £49 if it's...

Hi Joe Would the 16mm Wickes sheeting be OK then? Is that the same as the one you used? Julia

Polycarbonate sheeting - which one to buy?

Sorry Xenon for getting your name wrong. I wrote Lexan, which actually I hadn't heard of until I read your message, because I must have remembered it instead. ! That's the trouble with answering a post as you have not got it in front of you. Is Lexan what polycarbonate sheets are called?

Polycarbonate sheeting - which one to buy?

Hi Lexan Thanks so much for replying so quickly. I thought of glass but Paul, my partner, is worried that it would be too heavy and too difficult for him to put in and he wants to do the work himself. Our neighbour has put a glass roof on his extension and it really is lovely looking up at...

Polycarbonate sheeting - which one to buy?

I have a plastic roof on my extension that has gone all yellow and desperately needs replacing. It's made of the old-style, opaque polycarbonate sheeting and doesn't let much light in. Today in Wicks I saw what looked like much superior polycarbonate sheeting, which was clear and would...
