    cabling through kitchen unit

Pictures, hopefully to come. Though it gets worse. It wasn't so much a new spur more a re-direction. It's new cabling from the new source socket but when it comes out of the wall to the socket it's intended for it is old cable.

One of the pipes is the rising main, the other one slightly larger which looks to be part of the CH. And the report is named Domestic Electrical Installation Periodic Inspection Report DPN4 then a number. Have not yet paid but have the report. Agree they don't slide out, though given time...

    cabling through kitchen unit

Just had a job done in the kitchen. The electrician has cabled through a kitchen cabinet, rather than slide the unit out and clip or fix the wire to the wall. Is this normal? Not had the bill yet. Behind the units are a couple of horizontal copper pipes for the central heating. .The job was...

Many thanks for your help and re-assurance. Never thought to drink water, like a conditioned thingy, beer is for drinking , water is for washing.

    rising main

New hole Nige, old lead pipe was other side of toilet. Plumber dug a hole beside water meter, did a sacrificial pilot drill at a high point to determine path of pipe, and cut and connected . The water meter was already blue plastic to lead years ago. More pictures for the aficionado. Please...

    rising main

By drinking quallity, I mean possible warmish water from the cold tap when central heating is on. Always draw it off anyway and let stand to get rid of chlorine. Some comeback with Corgi or new version. Clicked 'show my images', where are they?. Anyway on Album.

    rising main

Thanks for the replies...got it done free courtesy Age Concern, don't really want to complain. Will try to lag or put a piece of slate in between. Was thinking of boxing it in, so best not re drinking quality. The plumber was Corgi and I guess vetted by A.C. Asked the local authority originally...

    rising main

Not overly concerned but is it a good thing for a plastic rising main to be very close (within a mm)to a central heating pipe. Just had my lead replaced with blue plastic.

Drip from the Hot Water Cylinder

Still no sign of dampness, seepage, no pools of water. Fired up the system, hot water and rads work. Nowt wrong with header tank overflows. From the top of the cylinder almost as if water dripping down the pipe that leads into the top of the cylinder. Found a mirror, no signs of damp falling...

Drip from the Hot Water Cylinder

We're getting there...valve...could this be stuck letting water thru. Forgive my ignorance. Also concerned why it was hot, when system hadn't been used awhile. Anyway electrics on, showing clock working correct time and silver box not hot anymore.

Drip from the Hot Water Cylinder

The immersion looks to be the round thing on top of the tank. Looks OK. The silver box is near the pump with two pipes running from it (heavily insulated), and has a thin type toggle ?switch in the side, which I cannot see properly. Not hot now, and has a quite thick cable running from it to...

Drip from the Hot Water Cylinder

Thanks for the reply. Green foamed tank, about ten years old, thought vaguely the hot silver box symptom might be related. I switched off the electrics for silver box to cool, then tested the hot water action..OK tho didn't have it on long, just long enough for water to get warm. Not life...

Drip from the Hot Water Cylinder

Can someone help me...there is a drip in the vicinity of the Hot Water Tank, or in the tank itself ,about every half minute. No obvious sign of water anywhere. Also the silver box was hot when I checked things out. It is a central heating system also running hot water option. Live solo and...
