Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

Just to add I was just asking a question about the amp ratings of general appliances on spurs. It wasn't ever about the extension lead. I think we misunderstood each other here.

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

Yes the question was about a fridge freezer and a freezer. Can I plug them both onto a spur? The dryer and washing machine on an extension cable response was superfluous to the post.

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

You said "Don't do the same with a drier, oven or washer, though" I responded to that statement telling you that this is the case with the dryer and washer. My post was about a fridge/freezer, asking if I could use them both on a spur! That is what I ma talking about, not the extension cable...

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

The spur is fed from the main ring circuit. The spur supplies one double socket.

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

So are you saying that the 13a socket is incapable of taking the specified rating? How can a 13a plug fitted by the manufacturers to an applaince be unsafe in a socket rated for two 13amp plugs? I'm not trying to be clever but I still don't understand.

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

I cannot get my head around this. They say to work out the amps you need to divide the Watts by the Volts. So a 2.5kw dryer rates at 10.5 amps (less than the 13a fused plug). Then add a Washing machine to the same spur. So are we saying that these two appliances with 13amp fuses will heat up...

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

No I'll baer that in mind. Having said that that's the situation at present. We just moved in and they have both of those on a extension lead!!

Fridge freezer and a freezer on same spur?

Can anyone tell me if I can run a fridge freezer and a second freezer off the same spur? They are both free standing with 13a plugs and I can get to the sockets easily. I have been told that 2.5 twin & Earth can take 26amps so on the face of it it seems OK but I need to be sure. The specs for...

    No soil vent pipe

Yes, you are right there Hugh. I will bear that in mind when I redo the guttering and put a trap in the pipe. Thanks.

    No soil vent pipe

Thanks both of you, sounds like its OK.

    No soil vent pipe

Just moved into our 1950s bunglalow and I have noticed that there is no soil vent pipe. In the conservatory they have fitted an AAV. Next to the manhole cover there is a downpipe which feeds directly into the manhole so I would presume this will act as somesort of a vent (not the correct thing...

Private or local authority Building Control?

I didn't realise they could be flexible with the costs. Problem is I am not classed as a protected species so maybe I will just be ignored. I don't know what I would say to get it down. Have you tried it?

Private or local authority Building Control?

Yes it's just a matter of trying to get on with the inspector rather than pi***** him off I suppose. There are many ways of doing a job and providing it's safe you're OK to an extent. That's what I have found anyway. I think I will go with LABC again though.

Private or local authority Building Control?

Building control is a necessity no matter how the builder works because a certificate is required at the end.

Private or local authority Building Control?

Thanks for the replies. I think with LABC if you start off well they will be more relaxed once they realise you know what you're doing. I did wonder about the amount of jobs these private inspectors have to get through, but I suppose if you are happy with the standard of your own work, the...

Private or local authority Building Control?

I am considering building a loft conversion myself (I have previous experience), but have never considered using a private Building Control company before. I realise that private may be more expensive, but has anyone else had dealings with these private inspectors? Is the extra cost worth it...

    Building regs issue

To help if anyone reads this because they have had a similar problem, I had to bite the bullet and get Building Control round. It couldn't have been easier. He didn't mention anything about the room whatsoever. He looked at the windows inside and outside, said they looked well built. He...

    Damaged roof felt

I am thinking of adding a loft conversion to my 1950s bungalow. On inspecting the roof, the tiles appear to be in good condition but the old original underfelt has repairs all over it. There are no leaks which I can see. I understand that holes in the felt are not all bad as they can supply...
