problems drilling brickwork - new drill or new bits?

Thanks for all the advice. I bought a DeWalt SDS drill and four nice bits; I needed to drill into a concrete garage and it was a breeze so that was a really good choice.

problems drilling brickwork - new drill or new bits?

Hi, Just moved house so will have plenty to keep me busy. I drilled a couple of holes in the wall for coat hooks yesterday but it was very hard work so I wondered if I needed some new tools or bits? I assume the walls are standard clay bricks as the dust was orange and the house is a 1940s...

    Weeping swan neck tap

Hi, I've searched for advice about my problem but have found mostly advice about older/chunkier style taps. I have these taps: The 'o' rings appear to have failed, there is black gunk around the places where I expect them to be. So I have two questions: 1. How do I remove...

Is this dry rot? if so, what needs doing?

That was my first idea after the first two responses indicating it might not be anything so drastic. After seeing the rest of the replies, I think I'll give it a bit more than just a lick of paint! Thanks for all the replies.

Is this dry rot? if so, what needs doing?

Hi, just discovered what I think is dry rot - the skirting board appears to be splitting: and there is a brown spot further along: My guess is that this is related to the hopper overflow problems I was experiencing back in January http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=210626...

    Regularly blocked hopper

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. The hopper was full with mostly moss, apparently, and there was more on the roof. The maintenance/management company were apparently supposed to sweep the roof twice a year, but this hasn't been happening. It will from now on (even though I don't...
