    Anglian anxiety check

Update: I have successfully cancelled this order. Thank you to everyone for the advice. Hi all, I've been looking at getting my DG replaced and my gutters/facia/soffits replaced. I have a 3 bed detached house. Anglian have quoted me £4648 for 16m of guttering, 16m soffit/fascia and 2...

    Loft ventilation, smell and condensation

Thanks everyone for your advice, much appreciated. Managed to get someone to come today and fix this and smell has already pretty much gone. Hopefully the insulation will dry out now too.

    Loft ventilation, smell and condensation

I'll try to get it altered - would a plumber be the best tradesperson to do something like this? I'm in Portslade near Brighton if anyone knows someone local.

    Loft ventilation, smell and condensation

I can see there are quire a few posts already on this subject and I've had a good read to see if there is anything obvious. I've checked the eaves are not blocked and the hatch is sealed well. Extractor hoses look good. I use a dehumidifier when drying clothes in the winter and try to ventilate...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Thank you to everyone who has replied to my question, I am seriously impressed by the amount of knowledge you all have and the help that you have all given me. I heard back from the electrician who installed my CU after I realised I did not receive a copy of my EIC and certificate of compliance...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Thanks for this. I'm probably not going to go ahead at the moment, but I'm very grateful for the advice as I really have no idea what I'm talking about. This is where I got the info about the granny charger:https://www.evchargersdirect.co.uk/home-charging/ "Charging from a normal 3 pin socket -...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Thanks for the advice. The works were definitely notified. They are on the NICEIC register and my local authority register. I knew that had to happen so I remember checking it had. It's just the EIC I don't think I was ever sent and didn't know I needed that as well. Unless I've put it somewhere...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Sorry that's my fault - that picture is the garage not the house. The conduit was already there. The armoured runs from the house to the garage then enters the conduit. It was only the external cable that was replaced.

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

I didn't get one of those - but the work was notified as I can see it on the register. I've just emailed the installer to see if I can get a copy.

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Thank you. I don't really understand much of the terminology but if I were to summarise would this be accurate? 1. In line charging would require some wiring changes to make it safe and unlikely to get super cheap tariff for EV charging. This will be expensive and approach the cost of a...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

The CU was updated in November 2023 after some fault finding on one of the ring mains. I don't think I got an EIC, just the notification of works thing with the council. The electrician didn't suggest any other changes in the garage apart from the feed cable as it was not apparently rated for...

Feasibility of installing 7kw charger in powered garage (and granny charging fall back if not)

Hello all, I'm thinking of getting an EV, as I drive quite infrequently and it's mostly town/local runs. I've seen a pretty cheap Renault Zoe that ticks all my boxes. My garage has power and I've recently had a new consumer unit fitted to main house. The garage power is taken overhead from my...

    HW tap no longer working

Thanks very much for the advice. Took the cartridge out. Took it apart, used some wd40 on it put it back together and it’s working fine again. If I ever need to replace the cartridge I’d know how to now as well. Many thanks saved me a cold shower in the morning.

    HW tap no longer working

Could anyone give me some tips on how to fix this tap? It's been fine for many years but this morning opening the tap results in just a very small dribble of water. The cold tap works fine. I've given the diverter a bit of a workout, makes no difference. The tap turns freely, just no water comes...

Can anyone tell me what is causing this?

I think that's just shadow. Does this just happen in a place like a kitchen or is it an indication of a bigger problem?

Can anyone tell me what is causing this?

I suspect this is some sort of damp problem but I don't really know. It's in my kitchen and the other corner looks similar like the bead is rusting and pushing the plaster away It's an external wall (cavity wall I believe). I don't even know what trade to ask to look at this. Any ideas?
