    Floating shelves

If they do not meet your needs, return them! Any attempt to bend the brackets etc will weaken the brackets, and also invalidate the guarantee meaning a return would be out of the question.

Cavity wall gap- maximum size for insulation grant

Can't the walls be averaged out? Too simple sir!! And I believe an invasive test if the normal, indeed the only way of checking the depth and condition (in case they have been pre filled!) of the cavities.

    Fixing into expanding foam

I am in the process of installing a cat tunnel through a cavity wall. Pictures here: http://www.diynot.com/network/churchilldog/albums/3515 As you can see from the pictures the hole is slightly bigger than the lining, and there is one more lining piece to go in on the outside of the tunnel...

Cavity wall gap- maximum size for insulation grant

Sounds like it to me as well. Also forgot to mention that the 83mm cavity was the end wall and subsequently the biggest wall- as it has the, erm, pointy bit. Is it called the gable end? Am I right in assuming that the cavity gap won't be perfectly even throughout- so it may be 83mm at the...

Cavity wall gap- maximum size for insulation grant

Hi, I’ve just had an “energy assessor” round to measure up for cavity wall and loft insulation. Apparently, one of my cavities (the end wall) is 83 mm, and the other 2 are 62mm. The 62mm cavities are fine, but the 83mm cavity isn’t covered by a grant (I applied through the Tesco £198 scheme)...

Reattach the internal UPVC window trim

Brilliant, thanks. As this is a white sealant will I be able to use the sealant for all the bits you mention above? I hope so, i really hate having lots of half used cartridges around because they all go to waste!

Reattach the internal UPVC window trim

Whilst stripping the wallpaper in a bedroom today i discovered that the clowns who installed UPVC in the house years ago (it's safe, and stylish if that helps you work out who), have attached the internal UPVC window trim to the wallpaper, which obviously has now come off! It looks like it...

    Ravenheat 820/20 tripping RCD

Hi everyone, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I have a property that is currently unoccupied due to working away. I checked on it earlier today and found that the electrics had tripped. The fuses were all ok, as was the main switch on the fusebox, but the RCD had tripped. I went round and...
