tidying up hightraffic areas of stipped wood floor

Vinn, Re the transition strip, both floors have been down since 2006. The kitchen floor is limestone from Fired Earth and has been really hard wearing, no cracks or chips. I have not had any problem with the join between wood and stone.

tidying up hightraffic areas of stipped wood floor

Just put a couple of coats of varnish down and it is looking much better, I haven't lost the patina but it has got rid of the grey and brought the colour back. I could have used a heavier grade of sander belt and bought it back closer to the condition of the wood nearest the camera (which is...

tidying up hightraffic areas of stipped wood floor

I was going to use 60 but have decided to use 120 grade which seems to work pretty well. What I don't want to do is loose the patina but do want to shift the grey layer of dirt. I have just had a session with the belt sander and I am pretty happy with the results. Because it does strip the wood...

tidying up hightraffic areas of stipped wood floor

Hi, Our basement has a reclaimed wood floor which was sanded and vanished about 10 years ago. most of it is still in very good condition but there is about 2m sq in a high traffic area which is looking tired and in need of some TLC. I am reluctant to have the whole floor re sanded and vanished...

Replacing a wired C/H thermostat with a wireless thermostat

Thanks for all the advice, in the end I went for a DT92E (which has the same relay as the CM927 just fewer features and is about 1/2 the price(£77). Fitting it was very easy and the signal has no problems with our tall house. I think this will easily have paid for itself by the end of the...

Replacing a wired C/H thermostat with a wireless thermostat

Brilliant! Thanks a lot; I had not twigged that the box on the diagram represented the boiler, it now all makes perfect sense as does your wiring instructions. I was looking at CM921/927 as the replacement as people seem to rate it it and had already downloaded the installation guide. Jasper.

Replacing a wired C/H thermostat with a wireless thermostat

Ideally what I would like to do is to replace the existing thermostat with the receiver of the wired unit and then place the sender in the basement which we need to control the temperature. The existing thermostat is in one floor down from the main controls which are right at the top of the...

Replacing a wired C/H thermostat with a wireless thermostat

Hi, We have a 4 story 4 bedroom house with a C/H system originally installed in the late 80s. Since moving in I have replaced the boiler (with a Worcester Bosch 40 CDi conventional) and hot water tank, I have also placed wireless radiator control valves on most of the radiators. Still...

    C/H pump always on

Yet another update. The Worcester Bosch engineer came around and checked out the boiler which was (as I suspected) fine. However he said that the lead for the pump overrun was not connected to the boiler (although I am not sure how he knew it was the overrun lead)! This makes me think that...

    C/H pump always on

Thanks for the info. Update: I called the installers and they were very straight forward, "No the pump should not do that", "If it is a problem with our original installation (done in 2006) we will fix it for free, but we will have to charge you £90 call out in case it is some other...

    C/H pump always on

Hi, Our central heating system is working, but I have noticed that the central heating pump is always on. We had a new boiler fitted a couple of years ago (Worcester Bosch 40 CDi condensing). I have discovered that the pump remains on even if the timer has switched off the CH and HW. The pump...
