Hot water runs slowly after a few minutes

We've had a problem for a while now where the bath will only fill a few inches before the hot water turns to a trickle. I usually leave it a while and try again. Anyway, tonight I decided to take a closer look. We have an indirect system. I'm not sure if it's vented or unvented. We're in a...

Cannot remove handle from monobloc tap

Thanks Joe. Don't really want to take the tap off the sink, but it's starting to look like that might be the only way! If that happens I'll just buy a new tap I think.

Cannot remove handle from monobloc tap

Anybody else got this tap and managed to take the handle off?

Cannot remove handle from monobloc tap

No, there's only about 5mm clearance so pulling the cover up only reveals the thread.

Cannot remove handle from monobloc tap

Having read similar posts in this forum I have since also tried; 1. Wedging a piece of wood under the handle whilst open, then closing it. 2. Pouring boiling water over the handle Neither of these worked. It seriously feels like the handle isn't meant to come off, but it must do, surely?!?!?!

Cannot remove handle from monobloc tap

Hi All, I've got a B&Q Lisbon monobloc tap that's dripping from the hot pipe (ie if I isolate the hot water feed the tap stops dripping). I've isolated the water supply, taken the cap off the handle, unscrewed the small screw inside the handle and unscrewed the tap body cover, but I...

    Siamp or Torbeck toilet valve?

Thanks guys. For now I've just replaced the siamp diaphragm which seems to have fixed the immediate issue. I guess I'll see how long it last before deciding to fork out for a new valve unit. Thanks for the input.

    Siamp or Torbeck toilet valve?

Hi, My toilet flush recently started filling reaaaally slowly. I took the valve mechanism apart and identified a small tear in the diaphragm. From further investigations it seems I have a siamp bottom entry float valve and simply replacing the diaphragm should fix the problem, but I...

1997 Escort - High revs in neutral

Just in case anyone stumbles across this whilst Googling the same problem... It turns out this was an engine management problem in the end. The Garage had to reset the on-board computer.

1997 Escort - High revs in neutral

Hi, My Escort has developed a problem where in neutral the revs jump up to about 2500 rpm. When you come to a standstill (at lights for example) it drops off after about 5 seconds. It's been going on for a while, and I think it might be burning the clutch out. I thought it might be the...

    Constant water pipe tapping

Thanks 5tav. No ball valve in toilet as it's a Fluidmaster valve (I think), in any case, the toilet's not been flushed and the water in the cistern is still, the valve seems shut and is making no noise. All appliances and taps have been turned off, but the noise persisted. I spoke to the...

    Constant water pipe tapping

I heard a rhythmic constant tapping a few days ago and thought it was probably our upstairs neighbour doing a bit of DIY. During the course of the day it continued and struck me that it might not be him. I started exploring round our flat and found that it was loudest in our hallway cupboard...

Elec shower - Light goes out when shower turned on, no h/w

You were right. It was a dodgy connection to the switch outside the bathroom. The switch had actually burnt out, causing that odd fishy smell, so had to be replaced. Thanks again!

Elec shower - Light goes out when shower turned on, no h/w

This morning my Gainsborough 9.5e Electric shower stopped providing hot water. The electric (h/w) switch (outside the bathroom) lights up, but goes out when the shower is turned on. When the light is on, it's not as bright as usual. Is there a leak/short in my shower unit causing a safety...

Warm water, no HW pilot, but CH works?

Further to this, I have tried setting both valves near the pump to Manual, but the pilot light still fails to ignite. Both levers on the valves moved smoothly with no real effort, and both 'wound' back to the automatic position when not locked into manual. Does this rule out a faulty valve...

Warm water, no HW pilot, but CH works?

Hi, I turned off the timers for a weekend whilst away, now the hot water is warm but wont get hot, and I think it's only warm because of the CH. I have a Potterton Netaheat 10-16, and the pilot light doesn't come on when only HW is turned on. The thermostat on the boiler is set to max. The...
