    Of course run this under ground as the ports on PCs and Laptops do not have lighting arrestor circuitry like some other telecom apperatus!

    A bit strong ;-) I agree in most instances, but properly specified and installed wireless can run for months or I suspect years without problems (mine has at home!) Not much cop in older houses I guess with the thick walls :-(

    Wiring for a Fridge

    Out of interest, If I have TN wiring and an RCD on the entire house, could the fridge and to that matter smoke alarms be wired from a non-rcd fuseway?? Its balanced risk I guess, no RCD cover vs. the effects of a power cut?

    Google wireless, you can get additional antennas for a lot of wireless routers (look on the back, has it got a screw connection for the stubby antenna?) You can also get better signal by using a USB wireless adapter so you can hang it on a hook in the outhouse once you find the best location...

    No earth from supply company

    Thanks for that, I intend to get a sparks in to tell me what to do (years out of the trade!), then do the `grunt work`, and get them back in to test and such. Bit of an easy `beer money` job quite frankly for someone I hope. Thanks again!

    I understand (please check) that they do use 230v like the UK - and acutally use the old 15a round pin sockets like the UK did 50 or so years ago!

    Unsightly BT cable running down side of house

    Before you do anything, make sure it does not feed other houses!! Last post is correct, you may may need it again, IF you get sick of cable and the BT master socket is still in tact it is free connection, IF not it is something stupid like £ 99.00 or so! :-)

    Did you pay (Any of it) by VISA, if so contact VISA and exaplain the situation, I will only use VISA for deposits or most works (even purchased a car with it much to the `delight` of a forecourt dealer! Protected against fraud, supplier bankrupcy and good mis-description :-) cannot beat it...
