    Cleaning cement mixer

Use water, lol. If it has stiffened in the sun a wee bit, chuck a shovel or two of aggregate in there and let it spin.

    Cleaning cement mixer

Hi I have a cement mixer on hire which I need to clean. I go a concrete dissolver spray off the net, this works fine for the outside. Is there a chemical/way I can get the hardened cement out the inside. Thanks

Looking for recomendations regarding cement mixers

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations regarding cement mixers. I had an old belle minimix that my dad bought about 35 years ago. it was a good workhorse but it had been outside all those years and it could only mix about a bucket of mortar at a time. The drum would jam if you put more in...

    Pouring a concrete base

It's not a huge area, you should attempt it in one go. Hire a cement mixer, and use a hand tamper for the sub base. Buy in a few extra small bags of ballast, just to make sure you have enough. You'll be able to take lunch/tea break whilst working, just pull a tarp over it. And again once...

    Patio Retaining Wall and Steps

...footing slab and then build the steps up from there. I’ve worked out the total concrete to be about 1.5m3 and plan on mixing it with a cement mixer I’ve got hold of. I’m looking at just using concrete blocks laid on their side for the wall and steps, tanking the back of the blocks and...

    Concrete base for garden office

2 bulk bags of ballast, however many bags of cement (calculators online for it) and a mixer positioned so it can tip each load directly in place. Keep the mixer going and just do load after load. That size should be comfortably doable within a couple of hours. You get into a flow and it’s easy...

    Concrete base for garden office

...rounding, but approx. My local builders merchants are, B&Q / TradePoint, Sydenhams, Travis Perkins, and Jewson. I do have access to power and hand tools, such a plate compactor, electric cement mixer, spades, shovels, wheels barrows, floats, etc, etc. I welcome any advise. Thanks in advance.

Is a Belle Mixer worthwhile over a cheaper brand for DIY projects?

That looks like an early model, probably with a lot of hours on it.

Is a Belle Mixer worthwhile over a cheaper brand for DIY projects?

I built my extension and various other projects around the house/garden using the previous version of this B&Q own brand mixer. https://www.diy.com/departments/mac-allister-370w-240v-cement-mixer-134l-mac90/196982_BQ.prd Worked great. Just keep it clean and turn it on before you start loading...

How to underpin front of concrete slab, that's poorly built on a slope and now overhanging it's hardcore sub-base?

That's indeed a smart use of those slabs. So at 50mm away from the concrete slab, that's enough room to shovel in wet concrete mix between to prevent the rest of the hardcore to crumble away, and hopefully give some support to the edges? I think those slabs are around the right size to do that...

How to underpin front of concrete slab, that's poorly built on a slope and now overhanging it's hardcore sub-base?

...concrete. Once set fill the void with runny concrete. I think you'd need a jumbo bag of ballast and half a dozen bags of cement and a cement mixer. You can bolt a ledger plate to the slabs to carry the decking. I do like to recycle ex council slabs, I reckon I've got about a hundred in...

Guestimate on how long to slab

...slabs i can expect to lay per mix @ 50mm bed. Area is quite big, 4x11m. I will be laying 75mm of mot1 crush prior. I already own a cement mixer, stihl saw and compactor, this is why i am considering doing it myself but i have a habbit of being unrealistic in how long it will take! Theres...

    Confused by Concrete Calculations

1 cement, 2 sand and 4 gravel is not equal to 1 cement and 6 ballast. The gravel has air gaps between the stones that the sand mostly fits into. The equivalent would be 5 ballast. I've no idea what grade I mix, but I use 10 shovels of ballast and two shovels of cement per load and it's...

    Confused by Concrete Calculations

I did a similar sized slab last year. 1 bulk bag of ballast and 6 small bags. 6 bags cement. Only get the bulk bag if you've got a wheelbarrow, but it does work out cheaper. (Maybe not if you need to buy a barrow, but job will be easier with a barrow, and you'll need a mixer)

Concrete and the amount needed for Drive way

2 bulk bags ballast and around 12 bags of cement, a cement mixer and a few hours of hard work, may be easier to get it delivered.

how much mortar do i need?

So if we where to go on the notion of blocks and filling the gap with cement then how many blocks do you think i will need? and how much cement sand and hard cord do i needs as well? Is the mix the same for the filler as the blocks I presume it is a solid wall and yes it is an enclosed...
