    broken drain collar repair

I have a broken drain I need to fix. This appears to be a 1 piece cast that goes into the ground. I will be laying a sandstone patio around it/rest of garden. I don't have the missing piece but I thought I could partially glue the bits I do have back on. Then how to fix the missing piece/gap...

    recessed manhole cover indian sandstone

Thanks for your reply and that is useful info. My question was more about the inside/ the actual tray itself, where the edges of the flags inside the tray meet the edge. Do you typically butt the flags up as close as possible to the edges, around the handles etc..? There will be an overall...

    recessed manhole cover indian sandstone

I have read a good guide for fitting recessed manhole covers on pavingexpert.com, but have some questions. I am not sure yet if the cover will involve cut flags, I may be able to trim one to fit. Almost certainly I will have mortar gaps to fill. I plan on using brush in resin. I will be laying...

Melted wires in heater almost causes fire

6 months ago I bought a 1200w infrared panel heater for a relative. This was based on good experience with one I have had for 6 years. The manufacturer didn't sell in the UK anymore, so I picked another one somewhat at random with some research. Infrared heating in the UK doesn't seem widespread...

    instant concrete wall foundations

Ok pictures at http://www.diynot.com/network/jd1980/albums/ since that picture was taken, I have removed the majority of the old foundation. So the new wall will be single skin and tied to the retaining wall. Depth of trench will be dug to around 30cm. I want the simplest method...

    removing old garden wall foundations

I'm sure its foundations for the brick wall, but if I cut it away and leave the foundation (or aligning support) for the retaining wall no wider than the actual wall itself, then I'm breaking the 'rules' of wall foundations where they should be wider than the actual blocks that make up the wall...

    removing old garden wall foundations

Sorry for the long post, not sure how much is relevant. http://www.diynot.com/network/jd1980/albums/3032 As can be seen in the picture, I am in the process of removing an old garden wall/building replacement. The picture shows the old brick wall removed and the retaining wall behind it...
