hats off to wayners, you nailed it. there was a long screw from the wall extending into the riser. something inside was spring loaded to clip the screw head, and with a gentle tap the pole came off. thanks all!

hi all i am having trouble removing a shower riser, and can't figure out how this is attached. the pole is attached to the horizontal bars with no allen key holes, no cover plate. there must be an internal screw holding it to the wall, so how to i get into it? the riser has a screw off cap...
