Cheers for the reply. Cable is 10mm and is routed from the cellar almost straight up behind plaster work into the loft, to a ceiling mounted shower switch. Then from the switch down inside a lath and plaster stud wall to the shower unit.

This was posted by Coljack in another thread and is exactly what I was wanting to know, I just couldn't quite see it and was about to start sketching to work it out. Saved me some time. Cheers Coljack if you read this, and to the others who helped. "loop in and out live cables go to L1...

    Quick PAT question.

I did a PAT test course about 18 months ago, there were twelve of us altogether, everyone passed, even though there was only three people that actually understood what was being taught. The answers were on a card, all you had to do was remember which colours answered which questions. Worthless...

can i spur off a loft light

I would ask your electrician to come back. And ask him to fit the other/others you asked him to fit in the first place. You did ask for more than one ? If not just get him to come back and fit another for you. It is perfectly safe, provided you do it correctly.

Getting Power To Wall Mounted TV

I would use browning over the installed cables, finish about 2mm under the surface of the original plaster, then finish skim with multifinish.

    replacing of mcb in board

I believe it is good practice, as common sense and a basic understanding of electricity would tell you if what you are doing is safe or not.

The inside handle works as it should. The handles are not in line though, the outside handle is lower than the inside. Anyone seen this type before ? Can post a pic if it helps. Cheers.

    Front door problem

I have a problem with my front door. I have searched the forum but can't find the answer. I have a composite front door with handles that you push up to deadlock and the key is required to open the door from the outside. The handle on the outside stopped working, it is now just hanging down and...

    blown light circuit

It may appear to be intact, check it with a multimeter just in case. Have you got a multimeter and some fuse wire ? If not you might be better leaving it to a qualified electrician.

Cheers. Yes there is no problem fitting another bell box to the outhouse. The outhouse btw is a shipping container, which means the bell box would be within reach, which I wanted to avoid. I hoped that by having a strobe attached to outhouse, set of by a PIR that would be a good deterrent to...

The exterior PIR would set off the strobe on the outbuilding, hopefully deterring any would be thieves, before they break in and activate an internal PIR. However, if they ignore the strobe and continue, then the alarm will go off. Can this be done or do I need a separate alarm ?
