    Beko Top Spray Arm

Hi all I have a beko dfn28r31x dishwasher. The top spray arm isn't spinning (although water flowing through) and top rack not getting cleaned properly. I have: * cleaned out filter * new feedpipe (the bit that runs along the bottom of the upper rack) * replaced top spray arm * flushed the...

    Lots of cracks!

1930s extended bungalow. Upstairs is a mixture across the two impacted rooms - mostly bedroom and eaves.

    Lots of cracks!

We had the bedrooms replastered a while back, maybe 2 years, by different plasterers. Both rooms have pretty significant cracks, some crossing right over ceiling, or down walls. What is the best course of action? Try and fill, or have large or even whole sections reskimmed? And if reskimmed...

    Closing up vent

I've done some more reading and I *think* For chimneys removed to below roof line (two of three in my case) these shouldn't be vented in bedroom as hot air running up can condense. For capped chimneys (one of three in my case) these should be vented in room. I may reinstall one, we were...

    Closing up vent

I should add, when I put them in I was definitely winging it. Followed a rough guide I read online and went for it. They poured cold air into the room, I thought maybe they'd allow warm air to go up but was surprised how much cold air they pumped in.

    Closing up vent

Two of the chimneys have been removed, and vents added to the exterior. The other one has been capped and lead works renewed. Do you think I need to do a U-turn and open them back up? Or wait and see...?

    Closing up vent

Thanks for replying. They're vents you can open and close. I put them in, having drilled through to what I thought / think was the chimney. The chimney has venting to the exterior already and all it seemed to do was pull cold air into the room. So I have now filled with expandable foam and...

    Closing up vent

Hey all, hope you're well When I bought the house 5 years ago I drilled through the inner cavity wall and added trickle vents at old fireplaces. I don't think it's made any difference other than blasting cold air from within the cavity into bedrooms and i want to seal them up as they were...

    damp around chimney

Hi We've a 1930s extended detached bungalow and we're having problems with damp. I've installed vents in each room to try and help circulate air. The chimneys are already capped, although not sure of the condition besides that. The neighbour mentioned the house was previously covered...

    Windows - curtains or blinds?

Hi I've got some odd sized windows. I'm not sure what the best way of covering them up is. The other end of the room has roughly the same configuration. I like the roman blind style, but are the smaller windows too small for that? Would you cover the door (to a small balcony) in the same...

    waste pipes

They head straight down that wall and then out the back wall. No joists appear to be blocking, although I've not knocked out a gap in the top left of the wall yet.

    new hearth too low

Great, thanks John. Can I just put the wet cement straight down onto the concrete floor, i.e. I don't need a wooden frame or anything? We got some new laminate flooring put down around the new hearth. I'm guessing the height (created by the underlay+laminate) will help keep the concrete...

    waste pipes

I have a couple of waste pipes coming through my kitchen, they used to be inside a ceiling box which I've removed. I'd like to tidy these up, and take them through the wall instead. So I'm planning on knocking out the bit of brickwork and taking them this way instead. Can anyone advise...

    new hearth too low

Yes exactly - concrete. I've only ever dry-laid concrete for a patio, and a few times wet mix for filling big gaps. So basically, build it up to the right level, use the spirit level, let it dry and then put the hearth back on top? Thanks

    new hearth too low

We've bought a new hearth, as the old one was cracked when we moved in. The only problem is, it's a slightly thinner than the old one. There is now a approx. 1/2 inch gap between hearth and the fireplace (which appears concreted in place). Any suggestions on how I could raise the hearth to...
