Help me find the right drill bit please.

I mean, the instructions really do make it look like they want you to drill a 3.2 mm hole in the wall but it’s a ludicrous level of precision for a hole in masonry, that doesn’t even make sense, because you’d be fitting a 3mm plug with 1mm of plastic around a 1mm hole and then driving in a 1mm...

Buying a 2nd hand car instead of an EV

Probably no different to spending 1500 quid on some clapped out ICE car to get it roadworthy.. You can spend that on changing a rubber belt these days At least with an EV the battery being shagged is about all that could reasonably be wrong with it

Merge In Turn, why does no one do it properly!

I’m sure I’ve been to a country that had such a system in occasional places , much shorter period than a couple of minutes per lane though; more like 5 seconds, to promote the zip merge. People should be taught to use roundabouts like zip merges, and there should be far more roundabouts and far...

Is this 6mm or 10mm cable?

Now please use a pair of pliers to squash the strands down into a line (touching) like ooooooo when viewed end-on, and put a ruler next to it then post a pic; let’s put some science at it

Ridge tile - Old mortar won't budge

Always a toss up with these things, but the OP seems competent enough to climb on a roof and use a hammer and chisel to remove ridge tiles, so I assume that they would practice with a new tool on the ground first while maintaining a sense of responsibility to themselves not to operate outside...

Blocked drain causing sewage in shower

Soil pipes (poo pipes) are often push fit, you don’t really clear those with pressure that the pipe has to contain- they might be jetted but that’s slightly different. Waste pipes (sink pipes) can be glued or pushed. You can identify them by sight; push fit have visible lumps at the joints...

Blocked drain causing sewage in shower

Indeed, vaccing will be safer. If you’re certain the pipework is solvent weld then use positive pressure, but if you get it wrong and it’s push fit, using pressure to clear it could blow the pipes apart, much bigger repair job then!

    Lighting Junction Box Advice

It may be that the lighting circuit pictured here joins into or is fed from a section of the circuit that has no earths; not uncommon for old lighting installs to be earthless. Snipping the wires thus does strongly indicate that this part of the lighting circuit has no earthing arrangement. You...

    Willis Heating System

Let's just say then that the Willis needs to be installed level with the bottom of the cylinder, like in the video I posted. In no way does this mean it's equivalent to a bottom immersion, but John might find the physics more appealing, and the matter can then rest..

How to accurately mark behind wet wall panel

If you have a laser level you can put it + mode, align the cross on one corner of the socket etc then place the panel in place and mark it up where the cross shines on it

Attaching ply to concrete floor for rubber tiles

If the tiles do indeed contain asbestos (some old vinyl tiles do) I personally feel it's probably best to remove them (heat gun and peel them up whole) so that a future occupant of the house doesn't accidentally release it by hitting the floor with a grinder etc Never been a fan of sealing it...

Ridge tile - Old mortar won't budge

Angle grinders can be used single handed, leaving the other hand free to assist your balance if you're not confident in it. Much better than swinging a hammer and chisel and breaking more than intended I'm surprised though; you sure post a lot of roofing pics for someone who intimates they...
