Buying a 2nd hand car instead of an EV

If it's only doing 6000 miles a year, maybe that's enough? Battery swap on a Leaf is supposed to be pretty easy as a DIY proposition.
So once you've bought your £1500 EV you have to spend another couple of grand or whatever on a replacement battery?

Probably no different to spending 1500 quid on some clapped out ICE car to get it roadworthy.. You can spend that on changing a rubber belt these days

At least with an EV the battery being shagged is about all that could reasonably be wrong with it

Not if you're happy with the range. I think Nissan were offering exchange Leaf batteries for about £4k at one point, but I'm sure there are cheaper places that will repair or recondition your existing battery pack. Of course, you don't have to buy a second hand Leaf. The early ones didn't have battery cooling systems so they used to give their batteries a hard time. Spend a bit more and get something with a bit more battery life left in it, if the range is important. Not many people use £1500 ICE cars to do big miles with, either.
