    What about some 18mm plywood cut into 6" strips, then joined together to make a long enough length to follow the curve of the roof/walls. Once you had several of those, you could then knit them together with some lengths of floor boards or similar, set at the height you require your light to be at.

    No, that shouldn't be the issue as the lead flashing should cover that, I can't be certain of course, because I haven't seen it.
