    Bloom on outside of windows

Any ideas what product to be used to remove the bloom on the outside of out DG windows? They've been in about 13yrs but thenloom has been present for about the last 8 at least. They are leaded. I'm thinking it may be some sort of leaching from the lead.

    Damp on hidden fireplace

Alternatively, remove the plasterboard front and see what's behind. You may find that the existing Victorian fireplaces are still there and you could make them a feature or,even if already removed, you could face the opening's sides with board (I've just used plywood in the past) and then paint...

    Damp on hidden fireplace

I suspect as your surveyor says re the chimney's needing capping. It's likely that rain is getting down inside. The good news is that they are open to the air. I'd cut a hole and fit a vent grill. If you're really concerned about the physical water coming down then you could get up inside the...

How do I repair door frame please?

I think this is your best bet and the easiest. It's plenty easy to move a hinge on both the door and the frame and then simply fill as suggested.

    caulk showing through paint

Scrape it all out, fill with plaster / filler, sand back and re-paint.

How do I repair door frame please?

Removing and replacing a frame is extremely messy and can open up a whole host of issues. Not least loosening brickwork and making good plaster etc. How about, you cut out the damaged section square, above and below. And then scarf in a new, planed timber piece? It can be glued and screwed at...

Help re 2014 Fiesta front suspension

These don't have the angled piece. Just as an update. I tried it all again and WAS the top hat bearing after all. Bought a new one this morning, fitted it and now all good. Quiet as a nut. Happy days!

Help re 2014 Fiesta front suspension

I've replaced the front spring on my Fiesta 2014 but it creaks when turning between each lock. Further investigation and it's clear that the spring is not seated properly at the top. The top-hat bearing is all ok. I'm struggling to seat it correctly. As I let the spring clamps off it simply...

    Smell from Washing Machine/Cap Spigot

You can buy the correct caps for the spigots from Screwfix etc. I'm not going to suggest something as I don't know exactly your setup. I wouldn't trust brown tape.

Treating damp before plastering or dot and dab.

Perhaps leave 'damp' areas exposed if going to be behind the units anyway. Scrape off the current mess first of course and then plaster down to just below worktop height only. Sounds like it's most likely leskage from the sink anyway.

    Clear a blocked flexi-pipe toilet?

Yep, ours is the exact same style of loo. And, had to use a flexi as only option of fitting.

    Clear a blocked flexi-pipe toilet?

Thanks for the thoughts and tips. I think I'll access the other end, where it meets the soil stack and rod from there. It's only about a metre. We no longer use the plastic hanger things, because of this.

    Clear a blocked flexi-pipe toilet?

Thanks for the thoughts. No, no kids. It's in our en-suite. Just us two middle-aged oldies. You say unlikely to be limescale but, it's not the first time that I've had my whole forearm deep in the water and around the bend chiselling off the stuff due to poor flow. Not on this loo but definitely...

    Clear a blocked flexi-pipe toilet?

Had toilet fitted about 12yrs ago with about a foot or so of flexi-pipe waste. It's been fine for the most part but more recently, about the last year or so, has started backing-up when trying to flush the more solid waste. It will go down eventually, with a bit of plunging of the loo brush...

    Is This A Weed Grass

I spoke to my wife about this. At first she though 'three-sided leek' but as you say it does not smell of onion / leek / garlic then clearly not. She also said that you would need to go on one of the more specialist lawn groups as it is quite a specialist area you're asking into. Lastly, once...

    Is This A Weed Grass

I think Facebook is your best bet. There are many gardening forums on there and lots of 'experts' happy to show of there so-called knowledge. My wife is a member of a few. She seems to be able to talk for hours about plants and things. It bores me to tears frankly.
