i've googled the nte5 and test port so now know what were talking about. i did plug the phone into the test port it gave me a sort of dial tone, by that i mean it was the same sound but it wasn't a solid beep instead it kept cutting off at regular intervals.

sorry not used to all the tech lingo so bare with me, nte5 would that be the incoming outlet, test port??? sorry have no idea where it is. open reach???? dont really know what that is. just seemed strange that everything was ok before and all of a sudden this happens. thanks for any help

was at a customers house today when they relised there phones were not working. checked every point with a cordless and a plug in landline phone and was not getting a dial tone on either. i then tried ringing the house phone but it said that it was engaged even when there were no phones pluged...

got all the basic apprentice qualifications, 2360, nvq lv3, 17th edition, still got to do the PAT test course. i just want to learn more for my own knowledge really rather than getting another job, is there any benifit from branching to electronics?

been asked to quote a rewire, spotlights used through out but client insists on led lamps. problem is that i have never installed led lamps before and have no idea how far i should space them. lights will be 86mm cut out with tilt facility. any help much appriciated?

again its a day for me generally. how many circuits anyway? any low voltage spotlights that require disconnecting for ir? protected by rcd?

has this cloakroom of yours got an opening window, as if i remember correctly i think that if it hasn't the fan would have to be wired so it comes on with the light regardless of anyones preference.

not entirly sure, another electrician i know asked if i could find out for him, all i can think is he's intending to use the 5th core as an earth rather than carrying through on the armour but not sure

tried both them can only find upto 4 core in the regs and google hasn't helped alot.
