    the top one is a manual bypass and can be left completely closed as you have a 3 port valve The bottom one is a balancing valve for the HW which from fully closed open it about 1 and half to 2 turns

    your bottom connection is this for a dish washer if so then its probably left a load of gunk in that elbow dismantle it and clean it out

    no it wont , anyone who has been in the trade will have experienced the mass of jelly in the header tank when the gallon containers of fernox was just added to the header tank . It was never got pulled into the system and just turned into gelatinous mass. If putting it in the tank then drain off...

    i have fitted systems that were in for decades with no inhibitor and the water was crystal clear when eventually drained for new boilers. Proper installation stops any fresh water/oxygen ingress
