    Radiator valve

I my naivety, I had assumed that the existing tail was part of the radiator. In an unhelpful coincidence, it was a compression fitting on the other end that mated perfectly with the new tail. Having removed the old tail and inserted the new one, I have a new value in place. After several...

    Radiator valve

The TRV on the radiator in my spare room has been jammed in the on position for some time. Maintly because I only think about it during the winter and I'm not so inclined to f*** around with the central heating in the middle of winter. This year I finally recalled the issue and decided to do...

    Shower tray drain

The two pipes go to the workings of the shower around the back. I surmise that they are something to do with the built in steamer. I have had the pressure washer through the pipe from the drain all the way up to the flexible hose, so I'm sure that the pipe isn't the issue.

    Toilet seat longevity

Used one a few times in Kenya. I have no idea what the accepted protocol is. For some reason they don't come with instructions. I seem to recall the main worry being missing the hole.

    Toilet seat longevity

Stainless. Although, I'll admit that you'll never see so many stains!

    Toilet seat longevity

I'm finding myself getting increasing levels of rage with toilet seats. A few years back I plumbed (pun intended) for a nice wooden, soft close seat. All was well for the first few months, it looked great, was warm to the touch and even fell silently into place. Fast forward a few months and...

    Shower tray drain

I know that this is a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string"* but is there any buying advice? ie any brands/models which are particularly good or any to avoid or are they much of a muchness? One other thing, it wasn't 100% clear in the previous picture but there's also a couple of...

    Shower tray drain

It certainly needs a good clean but what makes it need a replacement?

    Shower tray drain

Thanks for the info. I have had the flexible hose off and a quantity of hair does tend to get caught there. Doesn't do wonders to improve the situation though. I've also tried some unblocking fluid. Again, it improves things but it's still not amazing. It would be great to get inside and...

    Shower tray drain

I've been fighting a loosing battle with the shower drainage. It always forms a small lake in the shower. I was hoping to get into the trap and give it a thorough clean. Can't really see how that it done though. The top bit, inside the tray, appears to be a single piece of plastic, sealed in...

    Downpipe mess

Yeah, the drain was a long way from the gutter, so the pipe used to run diagonally along the wall to the drain. My neighbour was getting a drain run down the drive way, so I asked them to add a spur so I had a drain below the gutter. Someone helpfully McGuyvered the existing setup towards the...

    Downpipe mess

Hi all, For reasons that are unlikely to become clear, I have inherited the attached down pipe mess. I was wondering if anyone could offer any smart advice as to how to make it look less like a train wreck? I'm thinking getting a square section of down pipe but what is the best option to...

    3mm cable stapler

R28 purchased and despite DPD dropping it from great height onto my doorstep, so far, so good! Thanks for the advice.

    3mm cable stapler

Depends on cost. I don't see myself using it too often, so I don't want to shell out too much. I have a shop air compressor, so if I can get a decent pneumatic one without breaking the bank, I'll consider that a bonus but I'm expecting to be buying a manual one.

    3mm cable stapler

I have some 3mm steel rod that I want to staple to a length of 20x20 PAR and was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent stapler for 3mm I.D. U staples?

    How to cut Unistrut

I seem to recall not being impressed by the results of using the TCT blade on wood. It got the job done but wasn't all that neat. I've got dedicated wood, steel and ali blades. I had a go at cutting the unistrut with the saw and it did so without any drama.

    How to cut Unistrut

It's an Evolution Rage, so it does cut metal and has done so on a number of occasions. It makes a neater job than I do with a hacksaw and it certainly makes a neater job than I do with an angle grinder.

    How to cut Unistrut

I've recently acquired some Unistrut (https://www.therange.co.uk/diy/building-equipment-and-materials/prefabricated-construction/slotted-channel-pre-galvanised) which I need to reduce in length and I'm not 100% sure how to go about it. I'm inclined to think that the correct tool for the job...

Air compressor in a humid cellar

Getting water out of compressed air in a controlled manor is a pain in the arse. The main ways are refrigeration and desiccation media. The former requires eye wateringly expensive hardware and the latter eye wateringly expensive media. I have had fairly good results using a water trap made...
