    Toilet shower room without window

Disappointed to find an increasing number of places I have stayed and visited ignore this regulation so much that I wondered if the regulation had been changed. Good to see that it’s just laziness.

Shower sealant leaking after 3 months - will it just happen again?

Make sure it is dry and clean before applying then allow 48 hours to cure. Check for flexing as suggested above is a good idea.

Same here. Mine was installed 11 years ago.

I add it to the magnaclean unit every 3 or 4 years.

    Coax over Ethernet?

Quite - a balun doesn’t require power. The only exception is an active type that includes an amplifier.

    Alarm system.

£329 sounds pretty good to me and the manufacturer is generally well regarded so I wouldn’t have any concerns about getting that combo unit.

    Coax over Ethernet?

You will need a balun. AI did a better job than me to show why this won’t work… “Using a network cable for RF signals fails primarily because of a fundamental mismatch in physical architecture and electrical properties. Coaxial cables are "unbalanced," using a single shielded conductor to trap...

    Coax over Ethernet?

Not possible - use new coax but given the move to IP, I would look in that direction.

    Wired v wireless

I have an old but well built alarm built by Gardiner. I upgraded the PIRs to multi trigger units and that dealt with false alarms. I also added smart functionality using an esp32 controller which means I have a key fob, email alerts and a web interface to set/unset the alarm and check its...

Which Radiator Make and TRV / Lockshield?

The pin can be pulled out and there will be minimal flow of water. The valve and pin appear to be isolated () which explains why the main valve can stick yet the pin is free to move.

Which Radiator Make and TRV / Lockshield?

All makes stick if left in the closed position for a time in my experience.

    Analogue or digital ?

I replace the rechargeable batteries on our Gigaset phones every couple of years. I don’t think being on permanent charge does them any good. Ideally the manufacturers should have made the chargers intelligent.

    Vaillant Ecotec Pro 28 - F32

I have come across a couple of random fault codes with our Vaillant boiler in the 10 years we have had ours . I would not worry about them if a reset solves them unless it happens more than once or twice.

    Radiator Sludge

I only concern myself with 2 and then ensuring the heat curve of the boiler is appropriate for our house.

    Radiator Sludge

A skill worth learning. Paying an engineer to do it doesn’t make sense to me given the time it takes.
