    Tile sizes

Got of the phone with the company that imports the tiles they say their Tolerance guide lines allows them to sell tiles up to 5mm different in size and call it the same tile. 5mm difference in size to me sounds like a completely different tile as theses tiles are 45x45

    Tile sizes

Hi, I ordered two different batches of the same porcelain tile, same size etc. However now that they have arrived my builder has noticed that the first batch are smaller than the second batch. The difference in size means that we are unable to lay them down in a straight line. The...

    bifold door condensation

The dpm is one brick course below the door. Where the cil meets the brick is actually cemented. I'm going to put in expanding foam under the gap as a precaution and apply some waterproofer liquid myself.

    bifold door condensation

I spoke to the bifold people where where actually really helpful. They said they hadn't seen condensation in that part of the door previously. Looks like the builder when he installed the frame didn't take into account the weep holes which are on the bottom track. The water has no were to go...

    bifold door condensation

There is definitely no foam under the floor. It is just open to the air. I don't think it does coincide with wet weather. It seems to be when we have the central heating on max and the temperate difference is highest between outdoors and indoors. The only other thing that occurs to me is that we...

    bifold door condensation

Hi, I've had a triple glazed aluminum bifold door installed. The doors work great, however I've noticed that just on the underside of the frame on which the doors hang that I have condensation. I am fitting a engineered wood floor which will come up to the edge of the frame. It will be...

    Tile trim not needed?

I will have a word with him on Monday. He suggested we use carpet trim last time instead of tile trim. He says he has it in his bathroom. I don't belive him. I think he suggested carpet trim because it sits on the surface and it is less work for him to fit.. I haven't paid him for...

Samsung LCD TV remote can't change channels etc.

You can pick up a new remote for your tv off amazon for just under 4 pounds. I wouldn't bother trying to have it repaired.

    Floor screed drying times

It was actually fitted by specialist subcontractors who do nothing but liquid screed floors in the midlands. I guess from your reply you can't see any noticable Latience? I've tested the floor with a moisture meter that I got off amazon and the highest level i could get was 35% (hallway)...

    Tile trim not needed?

My tiler is telling me that he doesn't use tile trim in bathrooms. All of my parents bathrooms and shower rooms have tile trim, so I am wondering what is best? Is there is a good structural reason for fitting trim? For example stopping moisture getting into the tile etc. Or will some...

    Floor screed drying times

Nothing disintegrates if i tap it with a peice of wood. However i do have a layer on top which is dusty. The floor is also not one uniform colour but discoloured in placed. It seems like if i do rub the surface hard it comes away. It isn't solid like a concrete floor. Not sure if this is the...

    Floor screed drying times

It is pale white and shiny in areas. It hasn't been sanded with any sort of machine. Can you tell me what Latience looks like?

    Floor screed drying times

The choice was the builder's. I will ask him why on monday. Screed is 65mm at it's thickest. Sub-base is concrete slab. A Polythene Sheet was laid on top of the concrete before the screed was laid. The concrete has it's own DPM further down. No UFH.

    Floor screed drying times

The carpet fitter turned up without the moisture meter, so I'm thinking of just getting a device myself and testing it at different points and taking a average. Would this be okay in producing something accurate...

    Pir light with no override

For other people who might have this problem. Spoke to the electrican. The back lights had 2 core cables so no chance of having the ability to run the lights on PIR and ON/OFF. So I got him to bypass the PIR and just have them as normal lamps, which is fine for the rear lights. All the...

    Floor screed drying times

Hi, My builder opted to have a liquid calcium sulphate floor screed. We have radiators in the building and the technical specification says we can "force dry it" after 7 days of being laid. The tech sheet states that in ideal drying conditions Screed dries at a rate of 1mm per day up to...

    Pir light with no override

I didn't ask him to run a particular cable type. I just agreed where the lights would go, he ran cable to that position. Here is a picture of the cable he used: http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg539/azt5150/cable_zpsc3f38ccc.jpg
