    A waste of life

I did similar, after 2 carp apprenticeships my third gave me a career. Took me 35 years to get a professional registration, not a particularly high one, but even so I had to work for it. But I was never out of work from the age of 14 - petrol pump jockey; 1s 6d per hour (earned more as tips -...

    A waste of life

It's not that long ago the UK was the 4th largest economy. Today the indigenous population is seen by the present government as a revenue stream to be taxed to the lowest common denominator.

    Outdoor WiFi Extender

Cable is by far so much better. Just be kind to your neighbours and use cable. FYI 2.4GHz wifi only has 3 clear channels out of 11 or 13. The more WiFi you use the more your neighbours will want to use more repeaters, extenders just work normally. Then you will need more to compensate for their...

    Travel Insurance

I get my travel insurance through a specialist company, provided I pass the sport diving medical* I'm completely covered at a lower cost than through a general travel insurance company. * I have (late onset) Asthma and once had high Cholesterol - when you have a blood test it's always a...

How’s Rachael from accounts getting on…..

I do think someone in power needs to think about they encourage employers to get school leavers into their business (workforce). High starting salaries is a disincentive to employ along with high NI costs and, sadly private pension figures. My first apprenticeship (C&J) wage was around 35% of...

How’s Rachael from accounts getting on…..

Because he has finally realised (I hope) that he made mistakes and he doesn't want Liebour to make even worse ones now. IMHO I could never make my mind up who led the worst and most damaging government the UK had - Wilson, Blair, May, Bojo - but today I think it could be Starmer and his crew.

House price gravy train may have hit the buffers

Snipped a bit and highlighted London cause it just ain't London with the problems. Ignoring the popular belief that Landlords are in it for themselves with high rents etc which in my experience is not always true (yes there are some that do profiteer but there are many more that don't). With...

    England council results

Wrong. Completely Wrong! my natural instinct is Green but certainly not the greens in their present form who are anything but green IMO. The biggest problem facing the country is over(human)population, it's time that is recognised by TPTB.

    England council results

Oh well... IMO the present Labour leader is probably the least damaging person in No10, I don't think any one else in the Labour party who can keep the rabble out of completely wrecking the country (completing what Blair started, the break up of the UK with the devolved parliments; the lax or...

    Mower veers to the right

Check the bearings on the driven wheels. Any looseness will affect the whole of drive chain and how the machine runs even as a push mower. That is probably a major strip down.

Rent increases set to double in 1 year

After I had my Let property back from the tenants who were on a 'Registered Tenancy' - that's pre-AST's I used a letting agency for some years. That agency was initially owned by an UK based who had become a UK national American lady, they were very good, did the necessary checks on finance...

What do you find yourself avoiding more as you get older?

Was going to say - S, D, R&R But I still like sex, my drug of choice is still the effect of Nitrogen under pressure (& a sensible quantity of alcohol) and I've never stopped liking Rock 'n' Roll so I don't think I'm avoiding anything just participating with forethought.

    The Remains of the data

In 2006 I did that when I bought my first new car in years. The sales girl sat in her managers office counting out the cash and then throwing the pile of £20 notes in the air so it 'rained' down on her. I think that amount of cash in her hands went to her head (and possibly somewhere else...)!

    Starmer's treachery

It's surprising just how many projects the EU funds overseas - Pontoon Bridge in Curacao, Banana growers in St Lucia, (Or)fish industry in Guadeloupe as examples.

    Old photos of yourself.

Chalet deposit - we had that on a trip to Looe in the 1980's, think it was something like £100 refundable after a month, had to be cash not on a credit card. That was going to take most of our spending money then one of the girls did some 'smoozing' of the owner and reduced that 100 quid down to...

    Trading Tips

This works for me. Save regularly into a Cash ISA - say a £200 per month. Once that has built up into a tidy amount transfer 50 to 75% into a S&S ISA. Continue paying into the Cash ISA and repeat regarding transferring into a Stock & Shares ISA. The repeat is probably 3 or 4 year intervals...

What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby?

Or their managers are seeing that they can get an even bigger cut. Went to The Brook in Southampton they other week - first band I've seen live in years. Use to go to Leicester SU just about weekly, affordable and usually a reasonable band (e.g. Split Endz, SB&Q, Toya, Stiff tours). Can't...

    Feather edge clout

OK. You start at one end of the fence. With a spirit level determine which is the outside of the fence stating point (i.e. is the fence post upright or if an adjacent wall or fence is upright). If you are using gavel boards sit your first board on the gavel board, then ensure the first board is...
