Where to attach gutting to shed - outside wall/frame or roof?

Agreed. I can't see how their design would ever work.

    Track saw improvisation

Where do you get a straight bit of timber? :) I am not saying the linear clamp thing is useless, just a little less useful than expected. On mine at least the extruded aluminium section appears to be perfectly straight. I also have a very long sash clamp, which I can use as a straight edge with...

    Track saw improvisation

I've got the Lidl one, the clamp bit is ever so slightly wider than the track. Could be my imagination, but it does seem to "self-centre" slightly as you tighten it, not sure if this is intentional. Ie, if the ends you're clamping it on to are parallel, it will tend to end up closer to 90° to...

For a change, good news, price of electric being reduced.

Getting paid to charge the car this afternoon, going to net me 0.14p 1330-1400! Overall will be 11p for 30kWh or about 110 miles. Does seem a bit perverse, who is really paying here?

Trying to identify my underfloor heating cold tails

They do seem a bit expensive. I got a Smith's Space Saver SS9/5 for £340. If we say £250 difference, that would have bought me 1.7MWh of electricity this heating season. For the whole house I consumed 4.1MWh of gas for heating this season. The plinth heater is 1 of 10 emitters on my gas boiler...

    Doorbell issue

Have you confirmed that moving the transmitter so the shed no longer blocks line of sight, resolves the issue? Given how cheap these things are, I would crack open the transmitter end and stick a better antenna on it. There are plenty available COTS for 433 and 868MHz.

    Help with azaleas and fuchsias

Definitely give the fuchsia longer, mine are only just showing signs of life now so there's time for it to do something.

    Henry hoover - no power

I had exactly this with a ~15yo Henry. Some kind of fault inside the moulded plug. Found this after I dismantled it to look at the winder contacts.

    Freestanding Fridge/Freezer in Cabinet

It's in the cabinet to insulate it from the adjacent radiator :D We had an integrated one when we moved in to this house but because it's sat on the base of a unit, it's necessarily about 15cm further off the floor than it would otherwise be. As the ball and chain is vertically challenged, we...

    Sleeper planter against garage wall

How big is this thing? Can you detach it and re-attach it so it no longer bridges the DPC? In any case, I would line it so the soil is not in contact with the timber to prolong the life.

    Plants.

Geraniums. You can get a second flowering if you chop them back. Not a massive range of colours but they're tough. https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/trials-awards/using-award-winning-plants/10-award-winning-hardy-geraniums-for-the-garden Toadflax [Linaria purpurea]. Nice and tall.

Pls help me find a replacement 9v adapter

Why not? It's more flexible - will work in any country with appropriate local cable. Perhaps the original product is better specced than the replacement you've bought.

    Solar Pannels and Changing Sockets

If in doubt, isolate. Your PV inverter should not energise its output if it does not detect mains voltage, so you could get away with not isolating it if you switched the main breaker off. But it's not going to cost you anything to do it thoroughly, so don't take the chance.

    Advice for building a shed

Metal sheds are prone to condensation forming inside and "raining" on the contents, so you're probably best avoiding them. Are you looking to store the BBQs or is this a place to use them in the winter as well?

DeWalt DWE7485 table saw quality issues

How hot does it get in there on a sunny day? Is there a potential for the glue to soften to the point where it starts lifting?
