Just to update, and help anyone else who may have this problem. Engineer has sorted today. The non return valve in the condenser was blocked/broken. This was causing the condenser to cut out (a safety feature apparently), and because the condenser was wired into the hive, it also cut out...

Not asbestos, it's mdf/chipboard. Yes it's the hole where the flue from the old boiler used to be, when BG fitted the new boiler 4 years ago (along with the hive), they had to move the flue slightly higher.

No flameport, it was newly installed 4 years ago, boiler and hive together, and has been working fine prior to this.

I just want to be able to go through everything with the engineer when he comes on Tuesday, knowledge is power, so knowing as much as possible will help me make sure they check everything this time.

Yes it’s an FCU. We’re on receiver number 3, so it can’t be a faulty receiver. if the boiler is working when the receiver goes off, and they are both connected to the same switch, how can it be the wiring? Sorry I’m clueless.

Mister Banks The receiver and boiler are wired on the same switch, the boiler still works when the receiver is off (if it was a power problem, the boiler would go off too), as I have previously mentioned, I have had the wiring checked by a qualified electrician last week.
