Yep that was the issue, just changed them over to dimmable bulbs and working fine now. Sorry, could have done that before I posted anything!

Sorry I meant one cable (with three 'wires'), I was expecting a loop in as well as a switch in. Didn't realise you could loop through the switch rather than the light.

Hi All, Hopefully an easy one but I can't find anything obvious online. I am trying to replace a 'fancy' ceiling light with a standard pendant however the fitting only has one cable going to it. From what I can work out this means the loop is connected at the switch rather than the light...
