    Brick Acid to remove mortar

The mortar isn't too difficult to get off..so far. I just want a clean base so that I can prime them properly.

    Brick Acid to remove mortar

I need to lift and relay my porcelain slabs in the garden because the cowboy that originally did them didn't bed or prime them properly. I can remove the mortar from the underside of them by scraping and wire brushing it off (already done a few) but to make sure it's all off before I slurry them...

    Porcelain slabs laying cement

Which would be best..Blue Circle Mastercrete or just the General Purpose Cement? The Mastercrete says it has better resistance to frost but the General Purpose looks to be the most commonly used. Cheers

    Relaying porcelain slabs

Hi all. I need to lift and relay my porcelain slabs patio area. I'm going to use a 5:1 sand/cement mix on a full 50mm bed and also prime the back of the slabs with slurry. Is just normal Blue Circle cement the correct one to use? Also what slurry/SBR do you recommend? Cheers

Thanks. I want to remove the slave completely and put a new one in a different place. So it'll be the second option you mentioned

    Telephone cable - extending

Getting back to the OP ;) This is the cable I want to extend..the brown one. The BT engineer just spliced in to the BT cable so that he could add another socket on the internal wall

How can I open a stuck upvc window?

I had a similar problem, we used to always have the window ajar and moisture must have got into the gearbox an seized it. I found a Youtube video on how to release it involving a pair of mole grips and an allen key. I then replaced the gearbox and the lock rods

    Zinsser Scrubbable Matt

It's neither of the two replies. Its a in a few places. It's a strange one. I've bought some Zinsser Peel Stop to see if that sorts it out.

    Zinsser Scrubbable Matt

Used this a few years ago to paint the walls downstairs in our house. It went on great and was really easy to use but i've noticed it is starting to peel in a couple of areas now - mainly in lower corners and around skirting. This isn't a cheap paint and i've never had this before with other...

    Telephone cable - extending

Thanks for the replies. When we got the phone line turned on a BT engineer came out to have a look. The master socket is in a stupid place internally so I asked him if could move it. He couldnt so he ran a cable externally around the wall and back in to a new socket (slave?) in a better place...

Cutting off moulded plug - warranty?

Yeah...if the fcu already exists all I'd essential be doing is wiring a plug anyway

Cutting off moulded plug - warranty?

I've spoken to the manufacturer and they said it won't void the warranty but has to be done by a qualified electrician and that I need to have keep proof of it being done by them.. I'll do it myself and get proof later if it is needed (hopefully not)

    Telephone cable - extending

Hi all, I want to move the internal wall mounted phone socket so that i can move my router to a different place in the house. There is already a cable running around the outside wall to where the socket is now but i need to replace it with a longer one for the new location. What cable do i...

Cutting off moulded plug - warranty?

Nothing about cutting the plug off but it does say it can be connected to a switched FCU

Recommendation for a 60" electric (simulated) fire for a media wall?

I would definitely recommend going to see one in person in a shop/supplier first. We have just bought a Solution Lux150 and looked at a few different ones in the stores and the flame effect and logs differs a lot between them - some looked pretty crap.

Cutting off moulded plug - warranty?

Hi all, I'm fitting a new electric fire and i want to cut off the moulded plug and wire the cable into the back off a switched fused spur. Do you think there would be any problems with this and my warranty? Thanks.

Widening an opening to fit an electric insert fire

Yeah, it needs 100mm clearance above it for airflow.
