Would I be right I thinking I have you done the cistern to get to the large nut under used to secure the new unit to the cistern. Any help appreciated

Hi my push button button appears to have stopped working.....it seems the bit in the first picture has become detached. Anyone know where it goes or can offer any help please. Thanks Tom
