    1 way flick switch to dimmer switch

    hi guys, i have just replaced a one way switch with a dimmer switch, now the problem is that the dimmer switch does not dimmer, all the wiring is correct and it is earthed,and the light switches on and off but no dimmer. any idea's please??? thanks in advance
