Hi, I've just removed the Baxi pit from the fireplace and need to fill it. Can I just fill it with hardcore and concrete? Will be putting a hearth and log burning stove on top. I'm planning on hacking away the edges first to level it with the front. Thanks

Hi, Looking at making a mould for a hearth. Do you think using a laminated kitchen worktop offcut would be ok as a base or would the concrete stick firm and not be able to release it? Cheers
