    Tilemaster Grout 3000 SEALER?

Tilemaster Grout 3000 looks great in grey, but it goes dark when wet and then takes time to dry out again. Has anyone used a grout sealer to prevent this phenomenon from occurring? I was thinking about wiping over the grout with Thompson's Water Seal. Silly idea? Thanks in advance! :-)

    Garage Footings? Cracks! :-/

I'll have a dig around when the rain stops, but in the meantime, can anyone guess what sort of footings I'll find beneath the walls of my 1966 brick garage? There are a few cracks appearing at the rear corner! Thanks once again!

UPVC trim on Aluminium Windows? Acceptable or Rejectable?

My brother has just had several high-end aluminium units fitted, including a bi-fold door. The new back door has a 10mm + gap each side that's filled with expanding foam and silicone. This has been crudely covered with large UPVC quadrant, which I don't feel is acceptable. As always, I'd be very...

    Women's football hurts my ears!

At a men's football match, the roar of the crowd resembles thunder. At a women's football match, the 'roar' of the crowd resembles a flock of angry seagulls fighting over chips. It's horrible. Make them stop.

Add a battery to my solar?

Dear Solar Nerds, Okay, so I'm currently running a simple south-facing 2.5kw solar setup that reduces our bill quite significantly, but I'm planning to add a battery in order to maximise the benefits. I recall the original installation engineer saying that my inverter wouldn't support a battery...

    Nissan Qashqai Mystery Symbol?

I don't do cars. They make my brain hurt. I'm hoping that there's a kind person out there who can tell me what this little white symbol means? Thank you! :)

    Impossible is nothing, except this?

I really like this all-in-one cast stone bathroom basin, but HOW would you go about plumbing in the waste? The back of the unit is open, so flexible braided tap connectors could be used for the taps (no access to isolator valves?) BUT without using a long, flexible waste pipe from the trap, I...

    ASHP Holiday Mode £££?

Heck! I put my ASHP on 'Holiday Mode' because we were... on holiday. I put the temp on 10°C and long-pressed the suitcase icon until the display showed 'Holiday Mode'. Anyway, turns out I was charged MORE for the two weeks we were away (£39) than the following two weeks when all appliances were...

LH / RH shower tray confusion!

Wow! Such a simple one, but the online images of shower trays have totally thrown me! The same image of the same offset quadrant shower tray appears on several different sites, but whereas some describe it as LH (left handed) others say the opposite? Please help me! I'm starting to think that...

    Shower tray recommendation?

I've fitted multiple shower trays in the past, but this time I'm striving for perfection! All the trays I've fitted to date have had the same problem in that water sits on the flat edge where the enclosure and the tray meet. This water dries after a while of course, but it annoys me! It's a...

    Shower tray with run-off profile?

I've installed shower trays in the past and water just sits on the flat edge where the enclosure meets the tray. Can anyone recommend an offset quadrant tray that actually sheds water from the top down? My enclosure is 900x800. Thank you!

    Welded toilet waste?

Here we go again! So... I need to reconfigure the pipework for our new bathroom, but rather than being push-fit, this 110mm(?) black pipe (fitted in 1966 ⚽) appears to be glued! It just won't budge! Any advice would be very welcome!

No More Ply 6mm with PB adhesive?

Wait! Just before you all clock-off for the weekend! So, I figure I can save a bit of time, money and mess by boarding over a dodgy internal brick wall with No More Ply 6mm tile backing boards, which can (apparently) be painted, to give a 'large format tile' effect. The method of adhesion is...

    Honda umk435e pruning blade?

Morning folks! Just wondering if anyone has successfully attached and used a circular pruning blade to their Honda 4 stroke brush cutter? I've seen them advertised for 2 stroke cutters, but the Honda has a different shaft size. Thanks in advance! Olly

Towing Fiesta - No brakes? IDK!?

It's been a few years since I towed another car. They don't seem to break down as often these days. Anyway, today my wife's 2014 Fiesta Eco-Boost 1.0 decided to overheat and empty itself of coolant (mechanic thinks the turbo is shot as it has 'blown a plug' and that's where the coolant is coming...

    Wet Summer = Bad Asthma = :-(

They call it 'thunderstorm asthma' and they say that, when it rains, the pollen particles break up and become smaller, which means that they're more likely to irritate the airways and cause asthma. All I know is that when we have a dry summer, my asthma all but disappears, and when I've...

    Fibre cement cladding... indoors?

I've used Cladco (other brands are available) fibre cement lap board cladding externally, but having played around with some offcuts on an internal wall, it strikes me that if you stick it flat to the wall with no overlap, it makes a viable alternative to ceramic tiles. I mean, it's...

Solar PV - [not] Great Expectations!

I've just had a basic 2.5kw solar PV system installed with no battery. It's up and running and looks impressive enough, but how much can I (realistically) expect to save on my electric bill each month? Typically, I'm paying £60 including my standing charge during the summer months, so I'm...

    Do anti-scale devices ACTUALLY work?

Yes, I know that this topic has been covered, but with new devices appearing on the market, I was just wondering if anyone can recommend any of them 'wholeheartedly'? I'll be fitting a new stopcock shortly, and I'd like to fit an anti-scale device at the point of entry in an attempt to protect...

    Outward opening doors? Nah!

Someone I know (my wife actually) wants outward opening doors on her garden she-shed. I've told her that the wind will catch the doors and rip them off their little hinges. I've given her the option of a sliding patio door or inward opening french doors (like the ones that work PERFECTLY on the...
