Luke warm hotwater if Megaflo not used for a prolonged period ?

Hello We came back from a 7 day Easter breast recently, and the hot water was no way near as hot as normal eg. in the morning when Eco 7 has been used over night so water usually v hot. Could this be due to thermostat being fooled somehow that water is warmer than it actually is, so cutting...

Megaflow air bubble recharge advice please

Thanks. Oops. What will have been happening when I released the blue one then (sort of gushing, bubbling sound from inside the tank) ?

Megaflow air bubble recharge advice please

Hello We have an old Megaflo cylinder. We are not sure which one of the twist valves is the air release valve (used for recharging the air bubble). I have previously used the blue one (nearest to camera), but am now not sure if it may actually be the larger black further back in the attached...

Recharging Mego flo air gap ?

Thanks - there is no flow through tundish. However I've never seen much flow through the tundish, even just prior to air bubble recharging. I'm sure I was told that if hot water pressure drops this can be a sign that the bubble needs recharging.. Guess best to get mego flo and assoc plumbing...

Recharging Mego flo air gap ?

Thanks So will what I've done have any effect on the air bubble (positive or negative) ?

Recharging Mego flo air gap ?

Our hot water pressure has dropped a little so I thought recharging the air bubble might help. This is what I did: - shut off main stop cock to house - turned on cellar hot water tap (this took about 3 mins to stop flowing - went to top floor (where mega flo resides) and opened release valve...

Recharging Mego flo air gap ?

Hello I've followed instructions (from various sources, all pretty similar). When I open the pressure release valve (after turning off main stopcock and draining tank with lowest hot tap in the house), it hisses for about 15 secs but no water drains through the tundish. Is this normal or do I...

Closed CH system - ? low pressure

Thanks There is some evidence of leak around some of the old radiator valves (green stain) but nothing active I can see. Would this be enough to half fill a radiator every few weeks or so ? Some of the radiators are pretty old (lovely though) so may be internally created gas/air ? If so how an...

Closed CH system - ? low pressure

Hello We recently had the CH system in our (large-ish) old Victorian house converted from open to closed system. I have noticed that the pressure gauge (next to small red metal tank which was added as part of change) often falls below red warning needle (set at 1 bar) when heating is off...

Chimney lean - should I be concerned ?

Good morning I have some concerns about one of the chimneys on our Victorian detached house (built c1860). There is a lean (also noted on the survey when we purchased the property in 2016). I've attached some current pictures (along with one from the previous survey). Should we be concerned...

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

So may be our electricity bill would go down relatively more than the gas bill would increase if we converted to running hot water (mainly) from gas ? We do run a lot of clothes washes / drying cycles at night to utilise eco7 as well. No storage heaters though.

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

Thanks again for all your help. The water was hot enough in the morning, but I suspect not as hot as it could be ( to maximise the usage e.g. number of showers etc.). It is also noticeably cooler (but still just about usable) in the evening and I thought that perhaps by increasing temp is would...

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

PS Here is the lower immersion controller - it was set at 4 but I'm not sure what temp these values equate to. So I have increased to 4 1/2 & will check water temp tomorrow morning - is that sensible ?

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

Thanks - that explains why the water was same temp this morning after adjustment ! If the lower device is immersion temp controller, what is the higher one ?

Any idea which way to turn indirect controller to increase temp ? Thanks

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

Fair enough. So this would eek out the stored hot water a bit further ? And also are there any safety risks with this for the tank ?

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

If the water is stored at a higher temp, won't less have to be used when showering (as more cold will be mixed to bring temp down), thereby enabling more showers ? Forgive the dimness ... PS This is heated by immersion heater (on Eco7 at night), and not connected to the gas boiler central...

Increasing hot water temp in Megaflo CL210 cylinder - safe ?

Hello We have an old megaflo - moved into the property summer last year. Have had the airbubble recharged (once after moving in & just recently - however it is something I will attempt myself next time pressure drops / tundish drips as seems straightforward). However the water temp is not...
