    Gas Fire Pit

Hi, We're in the middle of planning a garden redesign, and we're thinking of having some decking with seating around a gas fire pit (design in the sketchup pic below - thanks to freddymercurystwin & AronSearle for recommending Sketchup in reply to a post last August). I'm having some...

    Landscaping/Garden Design Software?

Hi, I'm planning to re-landscape our garden, and have drawn a basic design by hand. However I'd like to put it in in some 3D/CAD software, so we can visualise it a bit better. Does anyone know of any good Landscaping/CAD software? Some freeware would be great if possible. Googling I see...

    Tiling Over Concealed Shower Mixer

Yeah, it wasn't particularily pretty behind, just cut 4 holes, 2 big for the hot/cold & on/off knobs, and 2 smaller for access to the valve/filters. One thing I wasn't sure of, was where to silicone, as the face plate has foam around the inner edge, so I put the sealant inside that...

    Tiling Over Concealed Shower Mixer

Hi, Just an update to the above, I managed to get the tiling done. Hired a diamond tile hole cutter, cut the hole for the 2 knobs & outlet, and fitted the front panel. All seems OK so far! Although I still need to fit the shower wall elbow, as the one suppled was chrome effect plastic, and...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Well, over the weekend we noticed the same issue with the shower flow. Took the mixing valve off, and found more crap in the cold inlet. I think it's possibly insulation from the loft. I'm not sure how it's getting in the cold water tank. The tank jacket was off, but there shouldn't be enough...

    Tiling Over Concealed Shower Mixer

I'm hoping so! My concern is the very top, there's only about 5mm between the edge of the face plate, and the top of the valve. And I also have a horrible feeling that the top of the valve is going to be right on the edge of a tile, or maybe even past it, which means the top of the faceplate...

    Tiling Over Concealed Shower Mixer

Hi, We're in the middle of gutting and redecorating our bathroom, after the previous house owners used standard plasterboard, didn't tank or seal it, and just used non waterproof grout/adhesive on the tiles. We've had to rip out the disintegrated plasterboard, and the bottom stud wall frame...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Forgot to answer your other question on shower age! I don't think it that old. We moved in last year, and this bathroom looks pretty new, nicely done, and quite modern. I'd say less than 5 years.

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Well its Swindon, South West, so fairly hard water, we get a fair bit of build up in the kettle. No prevention at the moment, might be worth looking into at some point. However the filter wasn't blocked by much limescale, it was more this fibrous hair like stuff. Wish I'd taken a picture now, it...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Well, the new thermostat arrived today. Quick job to fit it, tested, and it works perfectly! Looking at the old thermostat, both inlets have a filter in the pipe. The cold inlet was bunged up with what looked like fine hair & some limescale. I don't think it was hair, maybe very fine filings...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Have ordered a new shower mixer (bargain £30 down from £60), which should arrive by Wednesday. Will fit it, and see if this resolves the issue.

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Managed to get a better video at lunchtime! You can see it struggling with the flow, then when you turn the tap the other way the flow increases for a bit, but then starts cutting out again!

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Hi, I disconnected botht he hot/cold input & output and checked for crap in there, but found nothing. The horizantal run isn't as long as it looks in my pic, it's not really to scale, and the tank is a bit more to the left than in the pic. But there are no bleed vents, it's all speed fit...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Hi, Thanks for the replies! The new isolators were only fitted on the sink taps in the en-suite where we're doing the work. The flow issue is with the power shower in the family bathroom, which we're using while the en-suite is being done. It was working fine before the stopcock was shut...

    Power Shower Flow Issues

Hi, We have 2 power showers in our system, one in our en-suite and one in the family bathroom, which use a power shower pump located in the airing cupboard, along with the hot water tank/immersion heater, and a cold water tank in the loft, which I assume is for pressure (there is also a...

    Re-plastering Shower Unit

Another question, where is the best plpace to buy Aquapanel? Just checking Wickes, and it's actually the 6mm board, which I believe is for floors only. They don't seem to sell the 12.5mm board for walls. Unless I'm wrong and you can use the 6mm stuff? I've googled, but everywhere else seems...

    Re-plastering Shower Unit

So after getting home from work, I decided to search the forums properly, and read up on the different panels available, the following threads were a useful read: Help with Aquapanel and plasterboard please, board or plaster? and Wickes Aquapanel - is this correct?. I think AquaPanel is the...

    Re-plastering Shower Unit

Having read a few other forum posts, such as here & here, it looks like I can cut out the duff plasterboard, then replace with Aquapanel, seal the joints, and then tile directly over the Aquapanel, using quality waterproof adhesive/grout, without needing to skim it first! Is this OK?

    Re-plastering Shower Unit

Hi, When we first moved into our house last year, we noticed what we thought was an area of damp - carpet and lower wall was mouldy - in our bedroom behind where the previous owners had their wardrobes. At the time we couldn't see any actual water, and no obvious reason for it to be getting...
