    Tripping Light Circuit

So just to close this thread out. I was focusing on the Light circuit tripping, however there were two circuits from the CU, and the Electrician tracked it down to a problem in the socket circuit. A screw from the plasterboard must have damaged it. And I thought I was being careful!! I...

    Tripping Light Circuit

The blue wire with the brown sleeve is the switched live from S1. Therefore at present the S1 is not connected. Guess i'll just have to wait until I can get an electrician out. Any other suggestions welcome, but I will close out the thread once I get it sorted.

    Tripping Light Circuit

I can't see any damage the cable, I'm actually able to get see and see into void to see the wires. I have disconnected everything in the room with the supply (except the 'pass through' to the other room), however despite not making any changes in the other room the rcd still trips. However...

    Tripping Light Circuit

Have checked all the bulbs (L3,4,5, as per the updated diagram) but non are blown. When the switch is turned on for the circuit I see a flash of light in the bulbs before the rcd trips, but the bulbs arn;t blowing. Therefore, as i have removed S1, L2 and L1 from the circuit, the extent of the...

    Tripping Light Circuit

The RCD in both the garage and main unit trips every time. So if I turn S2 off, and reset the RCD's, then when I turn S2 on, it trips both RCD's. If I leave S2 on then its not possible to reset both RCD's as they trip each other. I did think it might be a screw, I've already had a good look...

    Tripping Light Circuit

I've had a new shed/garage built. New electrics were installed by an electrician, and were we all working ok. Perhaps now a mistake, i did not get the electrician do a first and second fix, I got them to do the job in one go, knowing that I would then install plasterboarded out one of the...

Grant External Combi Boiler that wouldn't switch CH off.

Just a follow on question. The MCB for the boiler circuit is 16A, and the previous rotary isolation switch was 20A. Should I change the rotary isolation switch to 16A? Thanks.

Grant External Combi Boiler that wouldn't switch CH off.

Yep, the RCD FCU trips when i press the test button. The reason for my original question was to try and determine if there was something else wrong wrong with the circuit other than the switch. I therefore thinking that i will just do a straight replacement on just the external isolation...

Grant External Combi Boiler that wouldn't switch CH off.

This is the external Isolation switch. As a temporary measure i have removed the swich, and connected wires using a terminal block and then wrapped in tape. Two things spring to mind. 1) Even though the electic supply comes from above, why not enter and exit the wires from beneath to stop the...

Grant External Combi Boiler that wouldn't switch CH off.

There is a 3A fuse in the internal isolation switch. The external switch is plastic, and earthed.

Grant External Combi Boiler that wouldn't switch CH off.

I've already part solved this problem. It took a while but I eventually tracked the problem down to the fact that the exterior isolation switch had been letting in (and collecting) water. This then was in some way making the switched live wire into a permanent live wire. However my question is...

    Mixer Tap Leak

thanks for the quick reply...and job done. I had worked out that the handle unscrewed, but hadn’t appreciated the existence of the grub screw. Once i had removed the outer cover it was clear that problem was caused by a loose fixing holding the valve in place. Easy when you know how...
