    Kitchen lights trip fuse

I have 12v spot lights in the kitchen that can be switched on from 2 points. When we switch the kitchen lights on from either point it trips the fuse. We can turn the lights on/off in the living room ,hall, dinning room, which are on the same circuit and all is ok. Any idea what is wrong...

Am I allowed to do this ?

Flameport - I'm sorry I do not see the problem. If I lifted up my floorboards and the was a junction box there why could I not run a spur cable to a socket. It's the same thing.

Am I allowed to do this ?

flameport - the regs have changed alot . The last time I did work was around 25 years ago. I know Planning permission and building regulations are completely different things I was just responing to a question. For the original questions: - You can do this work yourself, provided it is...

Am I allowed to do this ?

I suppose the best thing to do would be to cut back the in/out cables (going to exsisting sockets) and fit them to a junction box then cut a hole in the ceiling and push it up. From the junction box I could run a spur socket (only requiring one cable) I have a RCD in the fuse box Cables will...

Am I allowed to do this ?

Thanx for all replies. Ericmark - Is the fused connection unit a must .If so setup would be like this :- FCU – live to pull cord switch and then on to ceiling rose. Or a switchable FCU – are you allowed one in a WC. When you say RCD on all sockets under 20 amp I take it you mean at the...

Hi Can someone tell me if I’m allowed to do this electrical work myself? I am going to convert the garage. It already has 3 sockets connected to the ring main and a central light. The thing is that the sockets are up high (around 5’) so I need to lower them. Simple tasks just change the...

    New boiler advice needed

Ok. Thanx for the info on the 937. Can you tell me if I have this right. The total output from you hot & cold can not be more than your mains input. Assuming I have 20L/m coming in and the 837 gives me 15L/m. So if I turn my shower on full (just hot) I will get 15L/m. If I then turn on...

    New boiler advice needed

My main concern with having a combi was the reduce flow when you run water else where. What the installer was saying to me was that whilst it will reduce it will still be good enough to have a good shower . I suppose the chances of running a bath + shower or 2 showers at the same time are slim...

    New boiler advice needed

I am replacing my boiler. I first thought about having a unvented system as I wanted 2 showers fitted(one over the bath & one in en-suite). I was told that my pressure was ok(20L min) but flow rate was not .But this could be solved by fitting an accumulator. I had another installer tell me...
