i am going to sand my floorboards in the bedroom do i need to fill the gaps between the boards or not what with if so best varnish or stain etc thanks all for your help

1st time diy above my stairs the ceiling is high (big square empty space) i want to lower it down so if i build a frame can i just put some of that thin wood boards onto it and paint it straight after or do i need to plasterboard it thanks for any help
