I want to glue chipboard straight on to an existing wooden floor. I don't want to put anything over the chipboard, just lay it in a pattern and finish it off with marine varnish. Do you think it will work?

I want to put down chipboard flooring and then seal it - not cover over it. Has anyone done this before?
