    potterton prima 50 f problem

Hi, I have a problem with my boiler, model as above. Some mornings when I get up the radiators are cold, the boiler fan is blowing but the boiler hasn't fired up. My understanding is the fan blows down a hose to the pressure switch, which then turns on the gas and the ignitor. If I...

    loft condensation

ive been back up there today, and felt the timbers. they are actually dry, although darker to look at, i assume they have been wet at some point, leaving them marked? ive opened up ap many of the overlaps in the bitumen felt under the tiles as i can, it now seems a lot more "airy" in there...

    loft condensation

I have no downlighters.. the bartender aren't under the insulation, they are between the felt overlaps under the tiles to let air flow through. think I might look into the acrylic paint, and open our the felt joins each side. its dry up there now so it was probably just because of the...

    loft condensation

I think the shower is the culprit. have u ever seen a roof where it is angled so the soffits are not accessable from inside? I've read a lot saying soffit vents will clear the problem but i don't think it will help in this case?

    loft condensation

do u think the acrylic paint would act as a vapour barrier as I'm sure there isn't a barrier on the ceiling?

    loft condensation

hi, thanks for the quick reply! ive not installed a vapour barrier, and i dont think the ceiling is vapour backed plasterboard. i dont really want to take the ceiling down or the insulation up, which is why i thought the acrylic eggshell paint stuff might help? might try spacing some...

    loft condensation

i noticed just before xmas there was condensation in my loft. it seems to be mainly above the bathroom. the house was built in 73 i think, and has approx 8 inches of loft insulation. the condensation is on the felt under the tiles, and on the wooden beams. ive put batten peices in...

    Tiling over bitumin adhesive.

Hi, I have taken up my kitchen lyno and am planning to lay ceramic tiles... before the lyno was fitted some years ago, i took up the old style council, they came up very easily but there is a very thin layer of bitumin adhesive on the concrete floor. Ive just bought unibond rapid set...

    damp concrete floor

he couldnt really see what the problem was from the camera... said the pipe looked ok.. i think he is assuming it is a join or crack in the plastic.. he seemed to give the impression they repair quite a few like that so im not too worred about it breaking, its all on the dyna rod site too...

    damp concrete floor

thanks for the quick reply. i will throw away the boxing etc when it has all dried out and box it in again... they did seem to think that patching was better than relaying it.. they said it is easier to ensure a good seal at it is a long patch with resin on either side that is inflated and...

    damp concrete floor

ive had dyna rod out about this yesterday... they put a camera down the drain and said they cannot see any probs with the pipe.. they have gone through the holebathroom above and cannot find a leak. they said it is a possibility the soil pipe is leaking a tiny amount from a join or on...
