    What size rad?

I've got a two up two down end of terrance. I've got the end house so it's like a semi. The downstairs is open plan. The two rooms downstairs are linked by an opening slightly larger than a door way are about 17' x 14' each. At present each room has a rad that is 175cm long. I guess they are...

    Clock ticking

I had that I guess you've got a manual type timer. Mine was because the unit had come loose from the backing plate, the clock was srtill connected but the connections to the system weren't. Try pushing it gently back against the backing plate. Failing that you should be able to get as modern...

Ferroli Medenano pressure after bleeding rad

I'm at a friends and she told me her bathroom rad didn't get hot. All the others in the house do. Her HW was fine as well. I bled the air out of the rad. and now there is no pressure on the bolier gauge and it won't stay alight. So no HW or CH. She said that as I bled the rad upstairs there...

    Motorised valve different types? Edited

On the valve is says. BOSS BMVP222. At the moment the HW is on constant on the timer. The theromstat on the side on the hot water tank is switched to 65. The boiler and pump are on. The valve has been opened by the motor, and the flow is to the rads. The CH is off at the timer and the...

    Motorised valve different types? Edited

Siemens unit is a relay that I can only find in America V23008-A1002-A100 240v~ As the motor works when the HW comes on, if I changed the diverter valve round so the ports were opersite to what they are at the moment. What would be the problem? Is the motor in some way effected by the HW and...

    Motorised valve different types? Edited

Thats what I was told. The man at Siemans told me it is OK to use as you can connect it to be completely closed (spring) or completely open (motor). My problem is now it works (motor) when the HW is on.

    Motorised valve different types? Edited

It is a mid position valve being used as a two position valve. The original has three wires the new has five. I phoned Siemens who make the new one and they told me how to wire it up. I didn't touch any of the wires in the connection box. I just cut the wires coming from it and connected the new...

    Motorised valve different types? Edited

The saga continues. I've had new motorised valve fitted. Since then I've had very little heat from the rads. I've checked power to the valve and have taken the cover off to see what happens. When the HW is on the valve motor operates and the rads get hot. When the CH is on it doesn't move...

    One rad at a time?

Latest. I've been running the system each evening with the upstairs rads turned off (as they get hot). The downstairs one are gradually getting hotter so I guess the sludge is clearing. The new pump works the new motorised valve doesn't see this...

How to test for power (voltage)

It's a three port valve. From pump to HW. From pump to CH. I've just tested the supply. There is no voltage at the valve. I traced back and there is no voltage at the connection box. I checked between all the wires - that go to the valve. The wires from the valve in the conection box, earth to...

How to test for power (voltage)

My thoughts were that the valve didn't move and the valve is maybe 30+ years old. Are saying the grey should be isolated as well? Does it matter which way round I connect the meter leads?

How to test for power (voltage)

A plumber has fitted new motorised valve to my heating system, Unfortunatly he failed to mention he couldn't wire it up. The original had three wires. Green/yellow = earth. Blue = neutral. Brown = live. The new one a Boss unit has five wires. After a lot of phone calls I got hold of the...

    One rad at a time?

I'll have to check what make of boiler I have when I get home. But I don't have an air seperator unit. Last night I ran the system for about 5 hours, the bubbling noises stopped and most of the time the new pump sounded OK. A few clicks and whirs but nothing too bad. I turned off the rads...

    One rad at a time?

Still not fixed  I've got a new motorised valve, and now have had a new pump fitted. There seems to be no air in any of the rads. I bled them and its only water that comes out. There is a bleed valve at the top of the system just past the motorised valve only water comes out of that as...
