Okay, official quote in and it seems more than reasonable to me in the end.. £200 which covers the pump valves, pump, control valve and boiler specific thermo couple inc labour. £200 for gas valve, overheat stat and service inc labour. :)

Just to update, I started with the descaler and so far, no change. I think the boiler fires for longer before cutting out, but what do you think is the next best thing? Replace the pump just in case or just call someone out?

Just to add, when the boiler does fire up, popping sounds can be heard, and even a slight hissing. Its not very loud at first, but gets slightly louder before the boiler fires down. Is that kettling?
