Ok after lots of persuasion, finally got the pipes undone, left the original olives, obviously the backing plate was different fittings but did it as tight as we could on 1 screw instead of 2 and it's working. Never thought I could do it but thanks again guys

Well not a great start, can't get the nuts to loosen on the feed pipes. Tried wd40 but just not budging and pipe wrench just slipping and scratching nuts

Sure enough Bristan have come back to say they aren't available anymore. I wasn't aware that the cartridge needed maintenance so maybe it's that causing the knocking? We did manage to use it this morning turning the surround by hand but it was stiff initially then loosens as the flow...
