Undoing bottom fill toilet inlet valve connector from metal flexible hose

I'm a bit paranoid about water (in the wrong places), so getting the replacement hose fairly soon might be a good idea. The last house (which we rented) the boiler went wrong numerous times, multiple leaks and floods, went on and on. So although this was only a toilet flush problem it started...

Undoing bottom fill toilet inlet valve connector from metal flexible hose

Oh boy what a noob. Yeah, well, go public on it. Forgot I was looking top down onto the connection, so was initially inadvertently trying to tighten rather than loosen it. Fortunately I didn't twist it much before I realised what I was doing! :( It's water tight for the moment, am going to...

Undoing bottom fill toilet inlet valve connector from metal flexible hose

I'll give it a go. Trouble is I'm working in a really weird space, sitting in the bath and reaching over behind the toilet (it's a fairly small bathroom and whoever fitted it obviously wanted to cram in as much as possible), so not sure I can even get both arms down to grip. Will see.

Undoing bottom fill toilet inlet valve connector from metal flexible hose

Hi, I'm trying to replace an old toilet inlet valve but having trouble with the flexible metal connector tube. It's a bottom fill system. The fixed mains water pipe comes up from the floor and terminates with an isolator valve (which I've switched off) - it is then joined to the plastic toilet...

    Salus T105RF anticipates heat requirement?

Hehe OK :) Well I think it may have been RF interference so I have changed some dip switches and will see. It's now too warm to need the heating anyway so will have to wait till it gets cold. At least it can't come on during the night as the boiler clock overrides that. (Well, it can *think*...

    Salus T105RF anticipates heat requirement?

Hi, I've got the Salus T105RF which seems like the poor relation of the RT500RF but never mind... I wonder if the programme settings are telling the thermometer when to switch on and off, or when to actually *be* at either the economy or the comfort temperature. I had programmed it thinking...

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

Don't worry I had to go back to the store anyway so I've done it properly.

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

Oh well, never mind, we'll see how it does. I would have tended to go with a Honeywell but this is what was going at the time. Can't be any worse than a disconnected thermostat :D

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

Oh well it's bought and installed now - any reason you found it to be bad? Which model? I went for the T105RF in the end, fairly simple and a bit quirky in places but looks like it will do the job - at least to the same degree as an old rotary analogue one if nothing else. Will soon see how...

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

Sorry I meant the receiver. I know the colouring of the 4 core I bought was not ideal it looks a bit like 3 core + earth only the wires at all the same size. You will maybe shoot me but I am sheathing the ends of the 'wrong' colours with colour and label. I believe this is a legitimate...

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

So get some 4-core cable to do this wiring. Heh, typical I found a reply on another thread which also seems to answer the question. "the transmitter side of the unit mounts next to the boiler via a four core cable. a live and neutral should be taken from the boilers live and neutral were the...

Cheap wireless thermostat for Baxi 80e combi

Hi, Currently in a house with a Baxi 80e combi boiler, which presumably at one time was connected to the Honeywell T6360B thermostat. At present the wire has been severed between the boiler and the thermostat, and the internal link between terminals 1 and 2 on the boiler has been connected...

Baxi 80e combi boiler ignoring room thermsotat

Just the one mains power cable connecting under the boiler and then the standard gas and water pipes. So sounds like it's just not connected. Not even sure where the wire from the room thermostat is - few things look a bit fishy though. I've got a free check coming up soon so will get the...

Loose window panel on upvc front door

Moved into a property with fairly old upvc doors. The front door has a glass panel insert in the top half of the door, horizontally centered about 2/3 width of door. I've noticed the glass can be moved from both sides and seems the seals and fascias have come away to some extent probably due to...

Baxi 80e combi boiler ignoring room thermsotat

Hi, I've just moved into a property with a Baxi Combi 80e gas fired combi boiler. (http://www.baximarketing.co.uk/discontinued-literature/combi-boilers/Baxi-Combi-80e-105e-ins.pdf) Although this is quite an old and discontinued boiler and not the latest efficiency it does seem to work OK for...

Proline PC223A fridge/freezer - fridge warmer at top

Thanks, Is there any way I can easily find out if it's a frost-free model? From searching other Proline models with available manuals, they often have "FF" in the model number if that is so — this is an A. The only other model I can find with a manual is the PC226A. This looks to be of...

Proline PC223A fridge/freezer - fridge warmer at top

Hi, We have quite an old (must be 10+ years) Proline PC223A fridge/freezer - fridge on top, freezer below. It has worked pretty well over the years. The freezer still works fine but the fridge is getting a bit temperamental. A month or so ago it was freezing stuff in the crisper drawer...

Optimum operation of condensing boiler / hot water / heating

Hi, Firstly, apologies if any of my descriptions are too vague - I'm not an expert in heating or boilers by any degree. I can find out more precise info if it's needed. I have a few questions, but firstly our setup is: * All gas CH * A Potterton 15HE (?) condensing boiler *...

    Blocking a utility duct

I've not used expanding foam before – I haven’t even seen it. I’ve only seen the sealants which don’t work on larger areas. How does the foam set (based on the ones you were recommending)? I presume it won’t cause any damage to the pipes etc.? I’ll take a look and see what’s available. A...

    Blocking a utility duct

This was our first idea - it never came up as a suggestion in B&Q. We thought about probably having to apply several layers, starting from the edges otherwise we'd waste a lot squirting down the hole! I should've given dimensions - the casing for the duct is about 30x18cm but the hole is...
