Months Of DIY Work Destroyed In 2 Days...

As all the politicians say, " I mis-spoke". I meant closure plate, not register plate.

Months Of DIY Work Destroyed In 2 Days...

I offered to loosen them off, but they said they'd do it - I even left a small flathead by the window for them if needed. No radiators fitted either, to make life easier.

Months Of DIY Work Destroyed In 2 Days...

I think the boards are going to have come off. The walls are too wavy and the corners too curved and lumpy to straighten out. The 'bellcast' bottoms would be a nightmare too.

No intention of paying them. Been awake all night fretting over this and how much more time and money it's going to cost to put right and start again.

    No Hot Water...

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, heating still seems to be working so that may be it. Will have a look at that part then. Cheers.

    Fire Rated Brick Repair Filler?

Do you reckon a dyed 'standard' mix would do the trick, or would I have to dye a heat-resistant/fire-rated mortar?

    Fire Rated Brick Repair Filler?

I intend to chase out the old cracked mortar and repoint it all with fire-rated cement, but first I need to fix the visible faces of bricks that have been cut in half or damaged as I took out the back of the hearth.

    Fire Rated Brick Repair Filler?

Hi, Does anyone know of a brick repair filler that can be used to tidy up some damaged brick faces inside a newly reopened chimney hearth? The opening is double-sided (two walls, straight through) and will have a wood burner, not an open fire. I'm hoping to avoid digging out the offending...

Two Ethernet Cables Into Single Socket?

Hello, Is it possible to connect two ethernet cables into a single RG45 type socket while keeping a connection for both? We currently have a desktop PC and a games console sharing the same wall socket connection but have to keep unplugging one or the other to use them. Would prefer an option...

    Pairing Lintels?

Hello, I've just removed two internal walls to make one larger room. The chimney now remains in the middle of the room and the next plan is to increase the existing hearth opening and then make a new opening at the back so that we can put in a double-sided burner. The existing front of the...

    Fitting Drainage Channels (Aco Type)

I'm planning a new footpath to follow the walls around the back of the house and would like it to drain to an existing soak-away. Is it acceptable to butt Aco drainage channels directly against the house walls (well below dpc), or should they be spaced away? Cheers.

    Philmac (or similar) Adapter Advice?

Hi, Currently re-routing the mains water supply into our house due to an extension build. Will also be replacing stop-cock for new as the original is about to give up by the looks. Does anyone know which Philmac type fitting will be right for joining new 20mm MDPE to the original 1/2" Class D...

    Confined WC Waste...

Hi, Currently fitting a new toilet unit back to the wall (to replace an old 45 deg ceramic toilet that constantly dripped condensation and wrecked the floor). Please see photo: The unit depth is 200mm, and the centre of soil pipe to the centre of WC is also approx 200mm. Any ideas on how to...

Deck Mounted Valves - Which Is Which?

I would normally have agreed, but the bath was designed for the taps to be there. The actual taps we have chosen only protrude 40mm above the deck (not the ones in the pic). Any problems, take off the side panel and the pipe work is laid out before you!

Deck Mounted Valves - Which Is Which?

Cheers for the reply, it just seemed wrong putting them in the wrong way round looking at it from this side!

Deck Mounted Valves - Which Is Which?

Hi, I'm fitting out my bathroom, and have the same bath as the one pictured below - Is the hot tap on the left from outside the bath, or from inside the bath? Cheers.
