Tanking and tiling a painted wall

Hi, im nearly complete on my bathroom refurb. We are having most the room floor to ceiling tiled. That has all been done in insulated tile boards. I'm about to tape and tank the joints and screws on those areas. The rest of the room specifically behind the toilet and sink and the the short...

    Insulated Tile Backers to Thermalite

Thank you. Will use those plugs. I can't find advice for PU foam with these boards. There was one vid I saw where they used it in combo with tile adhesive, but they didn't discuss it. So my plan then... Prep wall with SBR (not sure I need this step) Offer board up, drill 12 holes per board...

    Insulated Tile Backers to Thermalite

Hi. I'm mid bathroom renovation. We are tiling onto external walls. The bath and shower will be in these walls so I've opted for and purchased 10mm insulated tile backers (no more ply, by STS). I don't want to batten the walls out as I will lose valuable space. Has anyone used PU foam adhesive...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Ok so bought a pressure tester. I get 2 bar at the outside tap which is off the kitchen sink. I get 3 bar at the furthest tap (different branch from the incoming main to the rest of the house). So I've got something restricting the flow to the kitchen tap. No a big issue tbh. I'm more wanting...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

I agree. I've asked Severn trent to come out and move the meter to the boundary. At that point I'll take out all those elbows and stops, put it back the other side of the wall in the boxing in and have a surestop. It's not outside it's in the garage. Was moved when we had the kitchen done so the...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Ta. It's not 20mm it's 26.9mm OD. The ID of the pipe is either 19.5 mm or 17.5mm (I need to take the connection off to see). The ID of 22mm copper is about 18mm, so matches quite closely no?

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Ok. Tested at the drain down point and I'm getting about 15lpm there. So something is happening after that and before the kitchen tap it seems. Regardless in me interested in views on what fitting I need to go from the incoming main 26.9mm pipe to a 22mm copper. Now I'm in there I'm inclined to...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Hi yeah I could test but it's already reduced to 15mm there, albeit only about 1 meter from the incoming main. No it's the inside of the garage wall, just the other side of the incoming. It was all moved during our kitchen refurbishment so they could box in. Didn't have time to get it moved to...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Hi, The only place i can test, the pipework has already gone down to 15mm and through many elbows and the meter. The incoming is Black Alkathene pipework with an OD of 26.9mm (just re-measured). So its old imperial stuff 3/4 Alkathene. Not copper. It immediately goes into 15mm through a brass...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

I haven't got anything to test the pressure. But the kitchen tap is the first thing after the meter (granted it goes through a few elbows and 2x stop cocks). I get 10l per min there. I could test at the drain down point I guess.

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

managed to get my camera in there. Its a black plastic incoming pipe, and is 26.4mm OD. Does raise into question why its bonded above, but i wont let that distract me. House was built in 1967. A bit of googling tells me this is Black Alkathene pipework. Not sure how i connect to that, i can only...

Poor FLOW. Is upgrading to 22mm worth it? (Ed.)

Im in the middle of a bathroom renovation. We have fairly low pressure in our system, with 15mm pipe work. We get just under 10l per min at the kitchen tap on cold. To be fair to our combi (40kw Worcester Bosch), it delivers the same 10l per minute in hot water (just a tad less). So while...

    Upsizing brass boss adaptors

thought so, not what either plumber said. This is why im doing it myself. If you want something doing properly... Took the old waste out yesterday. Its defo pitch. Impossible to cut as its just made of tar.

    Upsizing brass boss adaptors

Ok thanks. You think that will be ok in a vertical stack with all the branches above it? I've had 2 plumbers in to quote. Both said leave the 32mm wastes in. 1 for shower one for bath, one will have the basin tee into it. I think my plan is to cut below the existing branches. Put a new boss...

    Upsizing brass boss adaptors

Think I'm good but will take precautions and dispose of correctly. When you say flex, do you mean something like this which would worry me as it's sealed outside Or like this to push renewed pvc into the old pitch?

    Upsizing brass boss adaptors

Hi. I need to upgrade the 32mm waste pipes for my bathroom reno. They are currently bossed into a pitch fibre pipe using brass compressions fittings, that look like they can be adapted, but i have no idea what im looking for. I'm moving the waste branch down into the floor void so the top one...

    Soil stack vent reduction

Thanks. What sort of issues do you think I could have? I have read that I can remove it as they are only needed to let air in and prevent a syphoning not to actually vent the bad gases out. All my neighbours are vented so no issues there. If a major issue I could always go back up to 110mm in...

    Soil stack vent reduction

thanks, I think i will go with it having done a bit of research. I will probably add further AAVs on the sink and bath wastes in line, just to minimise the risk of the traps having their seal broken. Incidentally |I have that issue on a downstairs shower that was fitted to a downstairs loo...
