Just had a quote from a reliable plumber to supply and fit new boiler and flue kit, but I think it's a bit steep. He quotes £1800 + VAT. (ariston boiler) It's a small flat with a wall mounted boiler. Is this about right for a days labour + boiler?

I changed the pump as the old one was really stiff and covered in black gunk, however it's not made any difference. I've got another programmer so i can wire up the CH and HW valves so i can run them seperate again (present timeswitch has both wired into one so they can't be switched on...

checked f&e tank and it's ok. Bled top of hot tank too but only a tiny amount of air escaped and has made no difference. Suppose i'll have to change the pump and see if that makes any difference.
